12oz canned September 13, 2011. Served at around 50F.
Pours black with a large three finger foamy brown head that leaves some clumps of lacing and holds a good cap.
Aroma is toasted coconut, roasted malts, a bit of chocolate and coffee, but the coconut really steals the show. Very good strength.
Flavor is roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee, nice coconut notes throughout, minor amounts of bread and caramel, also found it to be a bit acidic. Minimal alcohol.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with good carbonation.
A very unique and tasty porter, one that I’ve been wanting to try for some time. The coconut is quite forward and not subtle here, so this would be best suited for coconut fans only.

Appearance – A super dark brown/black color with a nice thick tan head and light wet lacing.
Smell – Roasted malt, with a hint of sweet coconut.
Taste – Taste is similar to the smell, but also includes hops.
Mouthfeel –Lightly carbonated, smooth, and creamy, with a mild hoppy aftertaste.
Drinkability – The coconut is mild, and I think even people that don’t like coconut would enjoy this. It’s goes down easy, and is a great effort from Hawaii. Another reviewer said this would go well with angel food cake and I think he’s right.
