Can to a pint glass. Color is essentially black. Creamy tan colored head sits on top.
Fantastic chocolatey aromas. Bitter dark chocolate. Lots of roasted malts. Coffee aromas and hint of toasted coconut. Such a big and inviting nose leads to big roasted malt flavors.
There is a constant unrefined cocoa bitterness throughout. Some lingering hop bitterness. Just a bit of smokiness in the roasted malts. Coffee and the slightest bit of toasted coconut sweetness. You don't get much of it.
The beer is rather thin and oily with some abrasive carbonation. Not the smoothest or cleanest drinking beer. Just not too impressed with the mouthfeel.
Overall though, I'd say it's a pretty solid beer. It's dominated by the bitter cocoa aroma and flavors but is offset with just a bit of sweetness and smokiness to give it a little depth.

Appearance – A super dark brown/black color with a nice thick tan head and light wet lacing.
Smell – Roasted malt, with a hint of sweet coconut.
Taste – Taste is similar to the smell, but also includes hops.
Mouthfeel –Lightly carbonated, smooth, and creamy, with a mild hoppy aftertaste.
Drinkability – The coconut is mild, and I think even people that don’t like coconut would enjoy this. It’s goes down easy, and is a great effort from Hawaii. Another reviewer said this would go well with angel food cake and I think he’s right.
