Not a big wheat guy, but I was in Hawaii and this was an excellent beer for the setting. Nice tropical flavors and very refreshing. Definitely worth having again, but only in the right setting.

Hey. How's it going?

Pours the color of an American Lager with blonde/golden shades. It sits about 60% transparent. The head is nice though, with tons of lace and a 4 finger height.

Aroma of pineapples, pineapple juice, slight malt behind that. Delectable aroma.

The pineapple seems to clash more than compliment the wheat; regardless it's a welcome addition to an otherwise bland style. Out front is a wheaty, bread crust-like character; followed with mild hop, pineapple fruitiness and slight citrus pith.

The feel has a mild creaminess, with a medium feel and mild carbonation. End is semi-dry.

Overall a fair wheat ale, but nothing too spectacular. Dare I say boring, but it's beyond the norm so that's not quite fair to say. Glad I didn't buy a sixer, but glad I bought just this one.

this should have much better ratings than it does. maybe freshness coming over from hawaii has been an issue for folks, but this is a great beer, nothing really like it out there at all, a hefty white wheat base and a bunch of fresh pineapple. sexy drinkable hazy beer with a very authentic fresh pineapple aroma and flavor to it. i really dig it. looks like a hefeweizen in the glass, very cloudy with less than an inch of white head, a little darker than a lot of pale wheat beers, but still in that yellow to goldenrod family of shades. smells sweet, pineapple for sure, and fresh, no weird oxidation or anything else that might have thrown others off in the past. it tastes pretty much just like it smells, but i get a bit more of the pineapple, which is awesome. probably the best use if pineapple in a beer i have ever known, including some much more limited and expensive beers... bright and sunny, this literally takes me to maui. juicy and the good kind of sweet, authentic as they get, with even a little acidity on the back end where hops come in a little too. overall majorly smooth and drinkable and uniquely flavored. i love it.

Where IS my ukelele? I would feel a bit more comfortable playing a stringed instrument with one of these in my hand. It is a wheat ale, and it is a solid wheat ale - make no mistake! I had to search hard for the promised pineapple, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of this beer. If you want an thirst quenching but substantial beer to enjoy in Hawaii, give this a try!

Golden color with a thick thin head with medium retention.
Aroma with predominant notes of pineapple, bread and some unexpected funky sourness.
Flavor with notes of pineapple juice, white bread, mild ginger, some pine and citrusy and tangy hops. Dry aftertaste with a mild bitterness.
Light body with appropriate carbonation. Slightly acid.
Refreshing American Wheat with pineapple in the center fold. Assertive not complex. The challenge here was to make the pineapple feels fresh, which is hard to achieve with regular juice. I think they did the best they could, some oxidation is felt.
What would happen if they mix this with their coconut porter, would a piñacolada being born?

Pours an unhazy golden yellow with very little head. The nose is a tad yeasty, I would like more, with some faint pineapple in the background. The flavor is thin. Mostly pineapple. The mouthfeel is too thin as well.

APPEARANCE: Not as much haze as expected, but there is a little. The color is bright yellow and bubbles are popping so quickly from the head that it sounds like I just poured a can of soda over ice. The head lasts for 30 seconds and was about a good half-inch thick at its height. Underneath it, little tiny bubbles dart to the surface, keeping a lively look to the beer even after the head fades.

SMELL: Wow. As soon as I start pouring this beer I can smell the pineapple. Upon closer inspection, there is also a nice, light, bready note and then more pineapple.

TASTE: Mana Wheat tastes pretty much exactly like it smells. Pineapple is, by far, the dominant flavor, but a healthy portion of bready tastes mellow it out. The finish sharpens up quite a bit and leaves a slightly sugary taste on the palate. Very juicy.

MOUTHFEEL: The carbonation is very strong, which I like a lot. It adds to the already refreshing nature of this beer. The body is on the lighter side, but not watered down. That said, this is a little too ‘gulpable’ if that can be a word.

OVERALL: This is a really approachable craft beer. I can’t imagine even the staunchest of anti-beer people out there saying no to this one. I really enjoy this beer in the warmer months, especially when out camping or on the river.

A: Pineapple juice yellow, and incredibly hazy. Very little white head on top.

S: Light bread aromas, and the smell of canned pineapple.

T: Pineapple up front, with light bread following, and a tangy finish that ends watery.

M: Light in body, with high carbonation, and a dry finish.

O: I like the pineapple, but the rest of the beer falls a little flat for me. I can see tipping back a few of these during a summer BBQ, but it is still a little light on the flavor factor.

Tasting notes: Unique. Rich smoky unripe pineapple with a touch of sour (yet subtle and well-integrated), a dry wheat spice (with the barest echo of cinnamon), lemony candy-like nose, fairly thick body for the style. Semi-dry finish. Fizzy. Pineapple is subtle and the wheat flavor comes through. Pleasantly tangy and refreshing. Slightly grainy. Hints of popcorn, chewed gum, and grass. Less juicy than expected.

Clean, with a body similar to a hefe. Tastes are dominantly wheat with pineapple juice. Wish I would have picked up a full pack of this. An interesting take on this style and one that makes me more curious about this brewery.

A - Pours cloudy golden with a medium white head, it dissipates quite quickly. Lacing clings to the sides of the glass.

S - Bubblegum, lots of Pineapple, Wheat and a little banana.

T - Sweet Pineapple, with some Banana, Clove, Wheat with a slightly fruity and bitter hoppy finish

M - Medium carbonation and quite full bodied, finishes medium sweet.

Pours a light golden colour with nice frothy head that sinks slowly. White thick curtain of lace. Mild haze. Looks like a decent wheat.

Smells fruity. Distinct pineapple note with a slight glacé edge. Touch of cinnamon-laced pastry and strudel on the malt, very mild sweet spice. Bit desserty and could use more edge. Pleasant, though.

Taste is a bit tart and noticeably oxidised. Some caramel malt notes but quickly turns damp, raisiny but gets some lightness from pineapple late-mid. Finishes short but some nice light spice notes on the back. Would be interesting as a hefe with stronger wheat notes. Feel the pineapple dominates esp round the mid and some more yeasty spice or fruit esters might provide some interesting contrast.

A little thin, bit of pleasant tingly carbonation midway. Feels fine.

Some more beery edge underlying could really make this pop. Pleasant summery Mauiesque drop, but feel it could really be an intriguing beer if consumed fresh, as it's well crafted.

A: Cloudy pale yellow in color. Forms a fluffy white head. Decent retention. Minimal lacing.

S: Aroma is a bit funky...like fermented pineapple juice. Not necessarily bad, just, well...fermented pineapple juice.

T: Taste starts off with a slightly tart sweetness. Wheat. and pineapple. A slight earthy quality on the back end.

M: On the lighter side of medium. Slight acidic tartness, presumably from the pineapple juice. Low bitterness.

O: A refreshing summer beer. Nothing too serious - a fun beer. I like the pineapple here.

Poured from 12 oz can.

A: Straw yellow with smallish one finger white head. A bit of sticky lacing.

S: Lemon, pineapple, baked bread, pale malts. Maybe a bit of banana.

T: Biscuits mixed with subtle citrus flavors. Pineapple, banana. Some sweet malts.

M: Medium body and average carbonation. Easy drinking beer. Nice for a hot day in the sure.

O: I am normally not a big fan of wheat beers but I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I think the hint of pineapple makes the difference.

A: Hazy dark straw color with a foamy white (tanish) head.

S: Wheat and pineapple in the nose, a touch of grass.

T: Nice wheat backbone with very satisfying and complimentary pineapple overtones. Not a ton of complexity with the fruit, but still pretty good.

M: Medium bodied and smooth.

O: A very good fruity wheat ale. Definitely recommended.

Pours a cloudy, gold color. 1/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and good lacing. Smells of wheat, pale malt, slight sweet malt, hint of lemon, and hint of hop. Fits the style of an American Pale Wheat Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of hint of lemon, hint of clove, wheat, slight pale malt, and slight sweet malt. Overall, good appearance, feel, body, and blend.

Not a real complex beer but rather a summer patio quencher that makes good use of the wheat notes and the added pineapple flavour . Not too sweet and quite nice on the finish this is easy drinking and decent for the style. Compares with Kona's wheat beer though they use passionfruit as an addition. Tastes better on a Maui beach.

A - Generally golden, shifting between pineapple-gold and tangerine depending on the light. Neither satisfyingly cloudy nor crisply clear. Muddled rather than muddied.

S - You can definitely catch wafts of pineapple here. Being kind, the wheat notes are subtle; being unkind they are tame.

T - Disappointingly, I couldn't really taste the pineapple at all. Most of the wheat beer I've had has been German and while it may be unfair to hold american wheat ales against this yard-stick, this beer REALLY doesn't measure up. Little to no yeast, no citrus, tastes more like a lager than a wheat beer. For me this beer can't make up its mind as to whether it's a lager or a wheat beer. This does not produce some sort of groundbreaking fusion style; it creates identity confusion.

M - Timid, thin and fizzy.

O - Had quite high hopes for this beer which partly explains my slightly scathing review. The lack of pineapple on the palate was a missed opportunity and overall this beer did very little for me. I think the explanation for this lies in my expectation of a beer which would have fruity and wheaty characteristics. If you go into it expecting a slightly wheaty lager with pineapple in the nose you might not be as disappointed. Forgettable yet drinkable.

A vigorous pour into my Lost Abbey Teku glass produces a four-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head, that falls fairly quickly and leaves only a touch of lacing on the sides of my glass. The beer is a brilliantly clear, bright gold hue. Even as I pour this beer it smells strongly of tropical fruit, a more focused waft is much the same, but add some thin beery notes of cracker like malt, dried grassy grain, and that is about it as the pineapple is definitely the dominant note in the nose.

Not as sweet, and thus, not as fruity tasting as I was expecting, the beer is actually pretty dry overall; there is a general fruitiness running throughout, but the pineapple seems to be most noticeable in the finish. Interestingly enough this is sort of evocative of some of the fruitier American hop varieties, though it doesn’t have that balancing pungency or bitterness that hops have. Cracker like malt is more noticeable in the flavor and this lingers on the palate after each sip. There is perhaps a hint of bitterness here, but it almost seems like a touch of astringency or something else from the pineapple than like a hop bitterness. The body is fairly light, though not watery, and there is just enough carbonation to provide some textured effervescence.

As expected, this is a fairly simplistic wheat beer that has been infused with pineapple. Easy drinking, not bad and it can hit the spot when ice cold on a hot Summer’s day. The pineapple definitely contributes quite a bit more to the nose than it does the flavor.

Faint beery aroma but with a nice fruity nose. Just a quick mouthful of suds with some odd fruity flavors. Some carbonation but not so spritzy as many wheats. Light body without much malt. Just slightly tart. Pleasant and lightly fragrant. The barest hints of wheat malt.

This one makes it seem like pineapple is a natural for brewing with. Fortunately the flavor is on the subtle side. This could put the Blonde Ales out of business. It actually tastes better as it warms up a little. A beery light beer with a touch of flavor, if that's what you're hoping for. From the 12 oz can bought at Beercraft in San Diego.

Unreadable freshness date. Poured into balloon glass.

Mana Wheat pours a bright yellow gold body that is hazy, yet clear enough to show off big, fat bubbles of carbonation. The white head starts off rocky and about a finger and a half thick. It dissipates to nothing more than a streaky lacing on top. Isn't wheat supposed to help sustain head? Maybe the addition of acidic pineapple juice reduces any positive effects of wheat malt?

The aroma is fairly decent if you go into it without expecting pineapple aromas. It has a pronounced husky wheat aroma, that is balanced by a light presence of European hops and is colored up front by a light sweet fruitiness. It's the pineapple for sure, but it is non-distinct.

Mana Wheat does a good job of steering clear from creating a sweet fruit wheat beer. Light acidity follows a crisp, biting first sip. Flavor of pineapple is definitely there, more so on the exhale/retronasal part. The finish is quite clean, leaving only gentle notes of fresh pineapple juice.

The palate adjusts to the acidity fairly quickly. This isn't close to lambic territory, just quite the opposite from sweet Fruit Wheat Beer. Robust carbonation, sharp, and a medium body. Finishes crisp and light, creating a refreshing beer.

As it warms up, the pineapple flavor and the aroma open up more and more. Great beer that incorporates some local fruit, doesn't mask the original style, creates something different and good! I would recommend this beer to anyone who likes fruit beers that are not TOO sweet!

Poured from a 355ml can into a dimpled pint mug.

Pours a hazy orange-golden colour with a thick white head.

Smells fruity, refreshing and quite fresh.

Tastes nicely balanced between refreshing pineapple - not very tart which is good, and the medium bodied wheat element which is firm and refreshing also.

Overall a pretty simple tasting beer, but refreshing and tasty. Would love to have access to dozens of cheap cans of this stuff.

Pours a cloudy golden wheat color--looks like a pineapple appropriately enough--with a pretty nice white head.

Smells of pineapple juice, tart wheat, pepper.

Much of the same, sweet pineapple juice, nice wheaty character with a lightly tart character, some pepper and yeast on the finish.

Good full carbonation, refreshing mouthfeel.

I like this! More successful than most of the fruit wheat experiments out there.
