This is a seasonal release that will be available in Hawaii and the mainland. 2011 GABF silver award winner.

Pours cloudy, muddy dark orange/golden with a 1-finger fluffy white head. Good retention.

Aroma is musty, yeast, hay and wheat.

Taste of hay, citrus and yeast. Some coriander and wheat come through.

Mouthfeel is medium-light. A little lifeless on the tongue.

Overall, this is a very drinkable and enjoyable brew. Nice beach beer. Another solid entry from MBC.

I found this in can format at only the Whole Foods in Maui but I like this much better than the wheat beer in complexity and taste. The whole Wit trip is there including the citrus , the spices and the clean finish. I had on the beach in cans ( I am a glass man ) but the flavours still came through for me for the style. Looks like this was a limited release though and probably only available in Hawaii.

Had on-tap at Humpy's in Kona for the Maui mini-tap takeover on 03/09/12.

Appearance: Hazy orange/gold in color with a two finger of white head that simmers down to a frothy lacing within a minute.

Smell: Chalky & Belgian in nature with a good amount of citrus fruit (ie. oranges) rising up. Good amount of wheat breaks through.

Taste & Mouthfeel: Mild with a good amount of "tang" from the acid of the fruit, that is layered over the wheat & pilsner malts. Not overtly sweet, until near the cusp toward the end. The Belgian yeast flavor comes out a little bit with an earthy, farmhouse type of feel. Slight bit of warming up in the latter stages of this wonderful and easy-going brew.

Overall: I've had this both on tap and in can form and I almost prefer the canned product more, or maybe it's that I was able to devote more time to the package product, but this is a great beer and one that is perfect for breakfast/brunch pairing. Another exceptional offering from the Maui Brewing Co. that should be on everyone's radar. Solid!
