Poured from an undated can into a snifter.

Appearance: A sparse but sizable white head, golden translucent color. No lacing.

Smell: Belgian Yeast, citrus. Nothing outstanding here.

Taste: Light, not very complex. Sweet Belgian yeast, I can get a little bit of lemon. Perhaps a tiny bit of hops, not enough for the style though as far as I'm concerned. Feels a bit watery. Aftertaste has a most of the distinct lemongrass flavor.

Mouthfeel: Definitely thin, watered down. Not a whole lot of carbonation.

Overall: I'll finish the glass and I'm glad I tried it because it had seemed interesting, but I won't be seeking it out. Lemongrass character isn't as strong as I was hoping, but it's not an offensive beer. I'll keep it around for sharing with my friends, but I think I'll stick to Tank 7 when I want a Saison.

My beer guru had this one to try during a session. Appearance was not what I typically like, very clear and thin. The smell was very interesting, much better than I was expecting. The flavor was also very good. This is a great fire pit beer in the summer time after a hard day work. I will certainly consider buying it in the future.

Appearance - Rather dull. No head retention. Slightly bubbly with white, small bubbles forming at first pour, but then all of this quickly vanishes. Not much carbonation to look at, either.

Smell - Slightly sour pilsner malt on the nose, honey, coriander and citrus. All fairly to-be-expected elements of a Saison. Not picking up much lemongrass at all at this stage. Nice, clean hop aroma.

Taste - Not picking up much lemongrass. I cook with lemongrass fairly often and it is not easy to notice. When trying to spot it, it almost tastes more like a stale, bitter lemongrass and is not crisp, floral or citrusy at all. All the other flavors are standard Farmhouse/ Saison qualities: strong wheat notes, bitter lemon peel, light candy sugars/ honey, coriander, pilsner grains (nice and bitter/plant-y), floral hops (like the citra a lot here), and candied orange. Again, all very standard elements.

Mouthfeel - Carbonation reflects the appearance. Not great, slightly flat. Nice sugary mouthfeel: smooth, soft, and candy-like. Stimulates the front of the palate mostly and upper front portion of the mouth. Not a great mouthfeel, but not terrible.

Overall - Being a really big Lost Abbey fan, I was expecting way more here. Also, after falling in love with the mash-up between Sam's Dogfish Head and Maui Brewing and seriously being blown away by the Liquid Breadfruit, this is somewhat of a letdown. Not that this was a particularly bad beer -- it just wasn't anything special or standout. I won't be buying this again for the price. The Liquid Breadfruit, however, is unique and delicious. Will definitely stick to that mash-up, no question!

Pours quite yellow with a near pure clarity. I like this saison. At first there seemed that soap character that really drives me batty when it's in my saisons. Thankfully that exited and a mild earthy edge was there. Lemongrass is certainly there; may be a bit overdone really. Seems mildly overpowering. Citrus is certainly here as well with consistency. An easy drinking saison.

Even though it was brewed almost 8 months ago it still tastes pretty fresh though the lemongrass notes have have moved to the back. The citrus still picks the beer up and melds with the yeasty taste as per the style. As it warms up it opens up and the beer is revealed as above average for the style. Worth the purchase.

S: Spicy, hint of pear, with some lemon zest

A: deep yellow with some haze

T: spicy, fruity, lemon, hay, some citrus notes

O: nice easy drinking saison, light body with a crisp finish. Not sure I would buy it again, but worth trying at least once.

Poured to a full, white head with good retention and lacing. Appearance was a hazy straw color. Aroma was yeasty with some citrus notes. Taste had strong lemon and herb notes with some grass and wheat notes. Mouth feel was medium with a light sweet and sour aftertaste.

Poured from a 355 ml can. Pours slightly hazy bright yellow. The nose is incredibly bright and herbaceous, with notes of lemon dominating. Taste offers saison yeast funk notes, pineapple, citrus and an herbaceous hint of tart lemongrass on the finish. Mostly delivers what it promises. Definitely a tasty, refreshing beer.

Can picked up at Bier Thirty in Bown last week sometime... Enjoyed tonight after a long day on the clock... Pours a slight hazy glowing straw golden... short lasting white head leaves decent lacing in the wake.

Aromas are pretty traditional Belgian spicy phenols and some expected lemongrass... some bready pale maltiness...

Flavor pretty much mirrors the nose perfectly... perhaps a bit too much residual maltiness IMO, but it isn't a deal breaker.. lemongrass/citrus zest lingers long on the finish.

Body seems heavy for a 5% saison, but a good carbonation helps scrub the palate... pretty drinkable despite being a bit burpy.

Good beer... Not sure I would buy it again, but it is always cool to find a saison in a can.

A 355ml can with no visible BB date. Picked up a while back from Trembling Madness in York. A collaborative brew between Maui brewing and Lost Abbey, resulting in a modern take on a traditional Belgian style.

Poured into a Delirium chalice. A clear golden hue with some chunky floating sediment and plentiful carbonation. Yields a small head of white foam that lasts for a minute or so before dissipating. Aroma of dry, fruity yeast with hints of coriander, spice, mild lemongrass, faint herbs, grain and a lingering earthiness. Nicely rounded - smells great.

Tastes of earthy, fruity yeast with a crisp, dry finish. Notes of coriander, subtle spice, floral hints, mild lemongrass, faint herbs, grain, light malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Highly attenuated, followed by a mild, leafy bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with lively carbonation and good body for the style. Somewhat astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of earthy yeast and faint herbs.

Rather good, even if it doesn't quite live up to its name. Looks a bit lacklustre - the head fades very quickly though the carbonation is spot on. Aroma and flavour are decidedly yeasty and spicy, with a mild hint of lemongrass. Nicely balanced but I was hoping the lemongrass would be more obvious. Perhaps it's a character that wanes over time. Decent body. A quality brew - worth sampling though I believe this was a one-off.

had higher hopes for this, being in part by lost abbey and all, but maybe freshness is an issue here. pale yellow color, lighter, more blonde, without much head after a few seconds. its hazy and lazy and simple looking, some yeast settles. the nose is less lemongrass than I want, but its a little citric, with a lighter side of saison yeast and wheat malt both being showcased. the flavor is simple, not overly herbal as I thought it might be. let down by the yeast, was hoping for a much more interesting and robust version in this collaboration, but its not to be. super light in feel, pushing watered down, I could see it working in the summer, but it also really is lacking carbonation, which drags it down a little. it just feels half dead to me, half assed maybe, but again, freshness could be an issue, I think this one has been on the shelf awhile. overall not bad, but certainly far from standout, almost generic. not what I expected from these two.
