22 oz bottle served in a large mug. 2015 batch; says it's 8.7% abv this year. Can't find a bottled on date or anything like that.

Pours slightly hazy golden with a perfectly sized large head that fades at a medium pace and appears to be leaving nearly solid sheet of lacing down the sides of the glass. Smell is hop cones, juicy and floral, fruit blossoms of some sort. Very powerful aroma.

Taste is heavily bitter. Sweetness that dominates the aroma is definitely detectable, but bitterness dominates the flavor. Resinous, piney. If you pay close attention, the first splash of flavor as it hits your tongue is juicy and sweet.

Mouthfeel is dry -- really dry. Resinous. Overall, very pleased with this beer.

16oz can

Pours a finger of creamy, frothy white head into my nonic. After a little fading, retention holds up quite well. Initial lacing looks great. Body is dark orange, with hues of brown. Relatively transparent, considering the darker color. Large amount of bubbles coming up. Looks great so far.

Stone fruit, grapefruit, and a touch of pine here on the nose. A little spicy, a little citrusy. Slightly sweet and malty, but pretty balanced. Smells super good.

Flavor somewhat follows suit. Stone fruit blends with a touch of sweetness and malts; the latter is a little bigger than on the nose, potentially too much so for my liking. Small booze tinge towards the end. This is a big flavor, and its tasty, but the sugars and booze make for a flavor that leaves a little to be desired.

As with the flavor, the mouthfeel is affected by the sugar and booze as well. Other than that, the carbonation is a hair below medium. Body is on the thicker side, quite heavy actually. And the bitterness is moderate. Overall this would be a fine mouthfeel, but it is pretty heavily derailed by the two leading factors.

In a way, drinkability is the culmination of the problem here. This just isn’t that drinkable. I don’t really want to have to sip an IPA, even a double IPA.

Appearance turned out fantastic, thick lacing and a nice film of foam. Too bad the rest wasn’t as flawless.

Not much else to say. This beer has a good core but the sweetness and booze really kill it. Could have been acceptable 10 years ago, but in this day and age, hiding your alcohol is a given in top tier beers. The more I drink this, the less I’m enjoying it.

Hazy pale gold with two fingers of white head. Head drops in about ten minutes leaving rings of lace.
The smell hits as soon as you pop the cap. Melon, resin, fruity citrus.
The taste is similar to the aroma. Resin, melon, citrus fruit. Bitter of course but plenty of malt the keep it enjoyable. The label now says 8.5%abv and 80 IBUs.
Mouthfeel is medium body with good carbonation. The finish is lightly dry and bitter.
Overall a fine DIPA and enjoyable drink. There is an 050 stamped on the label. Is that the brewed on Julian date? Second week of March?

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a clear orange with a frothy white head.

Aroma is astrigent orange with a bitter pithiness at the end.

Taste matches aroma.

So delicious and a nice change from juicy IPAs.

22 oz. Bomber
ABV: 8.6%

Poured into a tulip a pretty nice clean/clear dark golden orangy color, pretty nice carbonation, with a pretty nice thick/creamy one-finger off-white head, which also leaves some nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, guava), piney. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, guava), piney. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.

Golden amber in color. Hazy, with an orange cream head. Moderate, streaky lacing. The aroma is malt forward, caramel malt & some orange. Herbal notes as well. The flavor is caramel malt and greens, grassy, herbal qualities. A bit of pine and grapefruit in the finish. Resinous and quite hoppy is the aftertaste, 100 IBUs. A bit of the alcohol feel at the end also. A decent beer, but not a go to for me.

Comes in darker than average, dull amber colors mixed with auburn, but it makes a solid 3/5" white head. Dry hop notes are muted, expresses more woodsiness than hops.

Some malt sweetness, again, looking for those familiar pine, citrus notes, they seem obscured at best. Another one of those hit the crystal malt feels big time. Have had some good hoppy stuff from Oakshire, but this one seemed uninspired and by the old school playbook with no exotic hopping or whatnot. High bitterness, low hop flavor.
