From a six pack of 12 ounce cans. Local Trader Joe's $8.99.
Pours cloudy gold with one finger of off white head. Clumps of lacing.
Nice aroma of citrus fruit, some pine.
Taste is fruity and sweet then the hop bitterness and pine quality comes on strong. Plenty of malts but hops kick them aside. Nice West Coast IPA flavors.
Mouthfeel is full with just enough carbonation. Long semi dry bitter finish. Hop oils linger for a long time on the back of the tongue.
Overall an awesome canned IPA. I would highly recommend the cans over the bomber version.
I have had both and don't remember the bomber version as nearly this good. And yes, the can says 6.7% abv which is pretty low for a beer this big.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Look - mild golden color, fairly clear for this style, and about half a finger's worth of foam that dissipates slowly.

Smell - pretty aromatic/floral, but not too strong. There's probably a good mix of hops, but I can't differentiate which ones might be present.

Taste - much like the aroma, but stronger. The floral bouquet of hops is present in the taste as well. The bitterness is slight, but it lasts through the middle and into the finish. It's actually kind of interesting how long the bitter flavor lasts. Again, it's mild, but just ever-present.

Mouthfeel - pretty well-balanced, but maybe a little on the lighter side. Medium-bodied overall.

Overall - not a bad IPA. Interesting, and good-tasting, but not terribly thought-provoking...if that makes any sense. The fervor of the hops' taste is curious, but that's the most fascinating bit about the taste. Good beer though.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a clear orange with a foamy orange-white head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, and citrus zest aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a nice hop presence in the aroma and flavor.

I bought a bomber of Watershed IPA in a bottle shop. Poured in to a pint glass.

Pours a pale gold color, clear with a bit of chill haze. topped with a creamy white head.

Smell is faint, a sweet citrus and floral aroma.

Taste is balanced, with a cereal presence up front, and a light citrus flavor on the finish.

Mouthfeel is crisp and clean, with a dry bitter aftertaste.

Overall a drinkable but average IPA. I would have it again, but there are better IPAs out there.

Can purchased in Waterbury, VT. Served in a Unibroue snifter.

A: Hazy orange color with a sticky medium head... the classic look.

S: Earthy, herbal and citrusy hops with a touch of pine, some crystal malt. A little alcohol as it warms. Aroma is subdued for the style.

T: Grassy, herbal piney hops and sweet malt. Hop flavor is a little weak for the style and the firm hop bitterness just reinforces the relative lack of flavor.

M: Medium carbonation and body. A hint of alcohol. Clean bitter finish.

O: Not bad but nothing special. Could definitely use more flavor and aroma hopping, and maybe a smidgen less crystal malt. This reminds me of the dreaded 'east coast IPA' of 15 years ago, back when there actually was a difference. It's nice to have a decent IPA in cans and I might drink quite a bit of this outdoors if I was local. Given the 3000 mile trip it must take to me and the associated price premium, plus the abundance of good canned IPA's in New England, I probably won't be buying a lot of this but I'm glad for the opportunity to try it.

Random 12 oz. received from a trade. Poured into a Dogfish Spiegelau glass. No readable freshness date but the sticker on the can put there by the store where purchased says 3/13/2013.

A- Pours a medium amber color with a full two fingers worth of head that retains for a super long time, almost too long, before finally creeping down to a 1/4 inch head with a protruding bump of foam in the center. A chaotic trail of spackled lacing is left behind on the glass. This is exactly how I like my IPAs to look.

S- Grassy, almost metallic aroma of hops that's also slightly musty and sweet.

M- The flavor expands upon the sweetness found in the aroma with a nice caramel malt showing itself pressed up against the mild hop bitterness. It's actually quite complex as it displays both earthy and citric hop characteristics as well as some bready, sugary malt. Also highly drinkable for the ABV (the can says 6.7, BA says 7.1).

M- Very balanced with a slight hop bite, hint of oiliness, moderate body and medium carbonation.

O- Great stuff. It's nice to try a beer from a brewery that's completely foreign to you and be impressed.
