Notes/Commercial Description:
"Our IPA is made with generous additions of Cascade, Simcoe and Palisade hops throughout the brewing, fermentation and conditioning phases, balanced with heaps of organic pale malt. We designed this to not rip your taste buds off your tongue, but rather vigourously stimulate them and your palate into a lupulin-ecstacy of pleasure. During the cross-country truck trip our brewery made to find it's home in Astoria, it was nearly scattered to the cornfields of Nebraska by a tornado. We try to capture some of nature's intensity in every pint."

Served out of a can into a tulip

Canning date is: November 25, 2013 - over a month old

A: Beautiful beer. Deep ruby orange with 1.5 inch tan head

S: Piney, Citrusy - more aromatic once after i popped the tab - before that, it smelled like a can.

T: Its an IPA, not a DIPA - and thus tastes like one. pretty thin citrus flavor, nice bite to it. Has a little alcohol heat.

M: Medium mouthfeel. I have no really issues with that - maybe would like it a little lighter, but with 7.7% that might be tough

O: A solid IPA, would buy again and try to get a fresher one.

Pours a thin head on a cloudy straw colored body.
The aroma is a nice pine and grapefruit smell.
The taste has a moderate pine and lemon bitterness that is balanced throughout the profile.
The texture is crisp with moderate carbonation.
A solid IPA and very enjoyable.

Pale orange/gold with a nice thick head that leaves behind a ton of lacing on the glass. Aroma is massive amounts of grapefruit hops. Thick and sweet on the tongue, very substantial malt character, followed by a burst of more grapefruity hops. This beer is very substantial, almost chewy! Bitter finish, very dry, makes you want to drink another. When friends tell me they like hoppy beers this is what I suggest. A long-time favorite IPA of mine.

This is a Mighty fine Meaty IPA. Thick, you can cut it with a knife. Strong from the first taste. If I ever have a chance to home brew I would like to accomplish a taste like this for sure. Oregon comes through with another winner. Gotta visit that state and hang out. I see a road trip coming up.

Poured from a 16oz can into a .5L glass.

A: Pours a clear, deep orange - until the dregs come out. Drinks a hazy, deep orange with a tenacious head that dissipates into a 1/8" head with great lacing.

S: Smells of citrus-like/orange with strong floral notes and pine and subtle hints of caramel malt. The citrus character is almost candy-like. Very pleasant.

T: Citrus and pine characteristics dominate. The malt character supports the firm hop bitterness delicately. Truly a hoppy beer, though not simply a 'one-dimensional' IPA, as the malt character is well balanced for the style.

M: Medium-high carbonation lends a creamy texture. Finish is sticky with hop flavor.

O: An extremely hoppy IPA - borders on IIPA as the 7.7% ABV lingers in classification purgatory. Regardless, a well made (I)IPA by any standard. I wish I would have brought another can back from my trip to Seattle. I look forward to more styles from this brewery!

Appearance starts out nice, with golden orange color in the glass. But I haven't seen floaters like this in a long time. Actually, they're sinkers, but still disconcerting, like bugs in the hot tub, even though you know they're cooked and chlorinated.

Great flavor, though, with a rich and mellow malt powering through, and then the huge, spicy, and aromatic blast of hops. Lovely aroma of Cascades. The hops seem to work nicely together. Very flowery with some interesting complexities of pine and fruit. Slightly sweet, but in a nice way, with the big hop tang.

Altogether, a delicious and tangy IPA with the bitterness reigned in nicely. I just wish they'd filter the stuff. From the 16 oz can purchased at Market of Choice on 29th in Eugene.
