A big thanks to the creator of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of light chocolate, some coffee. Taste is coffee, bitterness, some chocolate, a bit of alcohol. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Poured very dark with abundant chocolate foam. Chocolate notes up front aroma and taste. Wow factor kicked in. Enjoyable. Very tasty. To be savored.
Only picked up one can when I picked up some Vortex on impulse. Will definitely fill my stash next time I visit Oregon. Haven't seen it around here anywhere.
A shame. This beer is begging to get out more.

I have had this beer both on tap and in a can. This time is the latter. I pour it from the can into an imperial pint style glass.

The appearance is outstanding. This is a deep, dark black colour with a toffee hued tan head. The head dissipates slowly and leaves a beautiful consistant ring throughout the experience.

The smell is layered and complex. I am struck with decadent chocolate, roasted malt and floral cascade hops. The taste is even greater than the smell sensory-wise, as the chocolate descends deeper and darker; the roast is more prevalent and I also detect fruit notes as well. The mouthfeel is creamy, smooth, rich and silky, and the alcohol is warm and almost entirely undetected until the glass remains half full. At this point, I am compelled to reach for the second can, for the night remains young.

Overall, this Imperial Stout is a beautiful representation of the style, and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. Bravo Fort George, Bravo.

Poured from the can into the Canfest sampler glass. Black and very dark brown edges. You know the drill, its a hella black and thick double stout. Light beige head, would have expected darker. Bitter chocolate malt aroma, some alcohol, lots of heavily roasted malt in the aroma.

Pretty mellow taste, I kept coming back to this one, its got substantial two row, substantial chocolate malt. Easy drinking enough at this abv, no alcohol sting, bitterness isn't too high, but they didn't avoid the hop bill either. Its there, right about where it should. No one flavor dominates here. A little coffee esque bitterness, a little hop bitterness. Carbonation is just right, just enough to push the beer through, but far from seltzer water impressions.

Nothing out of the ordinary, this is just your standard, well made double stout. Yeast flavors are overstated, I didn't really grab onto anything that would make me think this was anything but a standard yeast for an American double stout.

A solid alternative to TenFidy. This is an upper echelon canned stout. It isn't great at anything, but its solid in every department.

Medium light brown head settles into a nice lacing with a small biscuity mound in the middle of the glass above this super dark brown to dark black colored beer which appears to be clear but I have no way of seeing through its depths.

Black licorice seems to outweigh dark roasted malt in a aroma that seems pretty full and rich.

Dark rich roasted malts, some oatmealish tastes are both in the taste but to a lesser degree than a rich black licorice taste.

A dry almost parching dry feel to the aftertaste of this full bodied beer that brings with it some of the black licorice tastes that are so prevalent in the taste.

A worthy rich drink, but you gotta be able to enjoy the licorice overtones.

Appearance. Pours a deep black/brown with a half finger of dark tan head that lasts a while.

Smell. Dark roasty and lightly smokey malts, some licorice, molasses.

Taste. Roasty malts, herby hops, a little booze and molasses.

Mouthfeel. Medium+ body with below medium carbonation.

Overall. Good stout, maybe not so much an imperial besides the booze.
