One of those cases where I think I substantially prefer the base beer to the BA version.

16oz : Teku
Black, with a foamy light brown head, spotty lacing.
Fudgy cocoa, with just a light whiskey, slightly oaky burn to the finish. Smells delicious.
Not quite as rich as the aroma, but still fairly decadent with lots of great fudgy, cocoa notes upfront highlighted by a lightly warming, whiskey oakiness.
Medium body, lightly viscous, mild foamy carbonation.
I wasn't sure how I felt about this one when I tried my first can back when I picked up the 4-pack, I'm now wishing I would have grabbed another. A very well done rye aged Imperial Stout.

On tap at Bier Stein the other day.
The beer pours a blackish brown color with good head retention and lacing. That being said, this beer has that look one frequently encounters in a beer that has seen some significant barrel aging. On the nose, they rye whiskey aroma is pretty prominent, which is something I always appreciate. There's also considerable dark chocolate, espresso and light vanilla in this attractive smelling beer. The flavor profile replicates the nose pretty closely, though the whiskey isn't as prominent as I was expecting, given the aroma profile. Nevertheless, the beer delivers plenty of flavor, and there's just enough hoppy bitterness in the finish to balance and counter the moderate sweetness in this beer. Mouthfeel is fairly full, and the finish is long with some light bitterness. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, though of course you can tell this is a pretty big beer.
Really liked this one, and was happy to hear from the bartender that Fort George plans to expand their production of this beer. Good stuff!

Deep black with a cocoa colored head that leaves sticky lace.
Sweet malty smell with mild sour, smoke and whiskey notes.
Sweet malt and cola up front, turns toasty, coffee and dark chocolate with smoke, wood, toasted marshmallow, char and whiskey at the end. Nice complexity. Not strong in the barrel flavors, but a nice amount.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation and extremely dry finish.
Dangerously drinkable. Not as thick or heavy as most barrel aged stout I've had. Great flavor that is not overwhelmingly strong in the barrel aged flavor. The rye whiskey is a nice comes addition to the overall beer.
