Pours black with a stunning large head.
Aroma is very rich, with liquorice, milk chocolate, cream, vanilla and warm milk (wierd, eh?). Very sweet and creamy. Crazy, but lovely.
Flavours show more of the same (especially the milk chocolate) but with the addition of roasted barley, bourbon, oaky notes and sultanas. Very complex.
Too much carbonation! Especially when you consider the style!
Overall, pretty crazy!

Wow the carbonation on this brew is way too high as soon as i opened the bottle it was a gusher and gushed out everywhere and didnt stop until i poured 3 quarters of the bottle into my goblet anyways the smell is bourbon and coke, coffee, raisins and vanilla, the mouthfeel is creamy and medium bodied and over carbonated but does allow the tastes of dark berries, bourbon and coke, raisins, vanilla and roasty mocha malts to make themselves known and overall if it wasnt for my bottle gushing everywhere after first opening i think this brew would of rated higher but in saying that it is a nice beer for the fans out there who like abit of bourbon on the side and i would drink again.

Back of the wagon. 330 into a tulip
A-- Poured a dark, deep cola color. Settled black. Quick fading one finger light brown head. A few beads of carbonation rise from the sides. Really nice head retention to this. On swirling got a two, almost 3 finger head that was light sand in color.
S-- Vanilla, dark milk chocolate and some odd fruitiness to this. Some pear and green apple. Has the scent of a candle in some ways. Lacking he roasted malt character of this.
T-- Dark bitter chocolate. No sweetness to this. Very forward chocolate and some burnt malts or barley.
M-- Medium feel and medium carbonation. Staple of Australian porters and stouts are higher than normal carbonation for the style. I suppose to make it more drinkable and approachable. Lots of dark chocolate in the mouth but nothing to smooth it out. Kind of harsh in a way. Like the 90% coco bars can find here. Get a bit of apple again in the mouth. Finishes dry.
D-- With some sweetness this could be really good. Has the porter taste but is very one dimensional. Would be really good with dark chocolate deserts that have the sweetness that can balance this out. A few thin gaps here and there but something worth seeking out if in Adelaide.

Pours a fairly murky red colour, head is quite nice, looks thin and delicate bubble-wise but the size of it is substantial. Lace is not that great. Looks good, but not great.
Smells quite musty actually. Fair caramel maltiness at the front but with a distinct sourness, hints of roasted malt on there but a bit weak, like the malt wasn't quite roasted enough. Overall a little chocolatey, but also a little weak.
Taste is not bad, a bit richer I think. Yeah, starts with a hit of toffee that quickly turns sour with plum notes and a hint of apple, then a bit of roastiness towards the back, slightly spicey with pleasant dark flavours and a slight over-exuberant piquancy at the finish. Provides heat that isn't strictly necessary. Nice overall flavour but has an odd blend of roasty darkness with quite thin sweetness. Nice, but not amazing.
Yeah, a real fizzy texture, quite effervescent. Fair body though helps it along its way.
Enjoyable enough drop, but nothing particularly special.

Clear but dark red-black colour, with a big and frothy head of beige bubbles. Rocky head, that leaves some sudsy lacing. Not particularly thick or heavy in the body, but it looks pretty decent overall.
Nose is redolent with an overcarbonated carbonic acidity, some dark grain notes and an odd wheat-like banana fragrance. It jangles oddly against everything. I can't say I'm a huge fan.
Slightly peppery flavour on the palate, with a thin feel. Dark grain forms most of the backbone, giving some deep roasted notes, but the spice character is the only uplifting element otherwise. Feel is depressingly thin.
No, there's not a lot to this, and it's missing a lot of character. It needs more depth, more complexity, and more flavour overall. A shame, because I've enjoyed other Steam Exchange beers.

Big, sweet chocolate aroma with very little else going on.
Nice, deep black colour with a moderate sized, tan head. Okay head retention.
The flavour disappoints. There is plenty of chocolate and a hint of vanilla but no real dark malt character and the bourbon is hidden away. Very 1-dimensional.
Medium-light body with moderately-low carbonation. Good.
A nice, easy to drink beer but it lacks a richness that would bring it together.
