Vintage: 2013
Appearance: Translucent Orange; Medium Carbonation; Fluffy, off-white head; minimal lace
Smell: Honey; orange rind; apple; hint of clove
Taste: Apple and Clove
Mouth-feel: Medium Body; Good carbonation level; Dry Finish
Overall: This beer has a great look and mouthfeel, but the taste is horrible; I am willing to admit the possibility of a bad batch or bottle, but it was purchased cold from a reputable retailer… Just awful. Like an apple just smoked a clove cigarette.

Enjoyed out of a heavy-duty brown bottle with now dating that I can find, but I do know this is from 2013 hop harvest, so it is pretty fresh. Poured into the Spiegelau "special" IPA glass.

Appearance - Pours a deep golden amber with notes of orange and sunny spun gold highlights where the light passes through the liquid. The hue is much darker up under the massive three and a half finger off-white head of tight bubbles. Retention is outstanding, with the bubbles expanding a little, then slowly beginning to burst. Foam never completely goes away, leaving an whip-cream like island in the middle of the liquid, surrounded by mottled sheets of lacing.

Smell - Fresh and green organic aromas, with pine needle, grass, perhaps some basil and thyme along with some of the more skunky (in a good way) characteristics that one might associate with cannabis. Under the herbal bouquet is nice balance of more earthy characteristics.

Taste - The fresh green elements are again on full display, providing a bit more bitterness than initially suspected by the smell. Pine resin, grapefruit rind, fresh-cut grass, and a healthy balance from the malt base, but doesn't overwhelm the hop profiles, which are still the star of the show. It gives the impression of light sourdough. Some of the pungency that was present in the smell again provides some heft to the taste.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied and simultaneously juicy and chewy, but more on the chewy side. A robust IPA that doesn't overpower with the ABV level. Carbonation is moderate.

Overall, I'm starting to wonder if I will ever find a wet-hopped/fresh-hopped IPA that I don't like. I've now tried a handful and they've all been delicious in their own unique way. This is more on the earthy side than some of the others I've had, which have been very fruit-forward/juicy.

Served chilled into a fluted tulip.

Pours a hazy, dark bronze color with an inch of airy, beige head that slowly recedes leaving moderate surface layer and lacing.

Took me a while to place the aroma. Smelled like pineapple juice to me.

Initial flavors are very grassy with a hint of pine. As it warmed the aforementioned flavors of pineapple juice came out. Sweet, sour and earthy.

Medium bodied with a dry finish. Moderate carbonation with very mild aftertaste.

Overall a nicely unique IPA with some interesting characteristics. Would definitely try again.

Handsome amber color, a little hazy, with a big foam in the Ommegang chalice. Pleasant sudsy mouthfeel. A fair amount of aromatics in the nose and on the taste buds. Some warm malt and a touch of apricot, on the dry side. Tangy yet mellow. Somewhat sharp with the hop oils.

Here I was waxing eloquent over "fresh hop" Northwest brews just last week, and here's another one. The first sip seems to prove "wet" isn't always best, but it does get more flavorful as it warms up. Pleasant weedy taste with the big mouthful of suds makes for a decent quaff, even it it's not a hop ambrosia type of IPA. Still worth trying these harvest-time hop brews. From the 500 ml bottle bought at Bottlecraft in San Diego.

500mL into a tulip. Pours a clear honey amber w/ a big frothy head, nice sticky lace.

Aroma is hoppy, resinous, and dank. Big citrus and mango, some nice floral and herbal notes.

Taste is likewise heavy on the hops. Juicy and sticky, but nicely balanced by plenty of pale and probably some crystal and caramel malts. Clean bitter finish.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, almost heavy. Lots of alpha acids here almost overload the taste buds. Lingering aftertaste of more hops.

Overall an enjoyable, well made fresh hop IPA. Would drink again.

Poured into a Chuckanut pint glass. Pours a slightly hazy, medium copper amber with a fine one finger white head with great retention and lacing. Nice aroma of orange family fruit, light tropical, citrus and herbal hops. Flavor is similar to aroma, with orange family citrus and rind, grassy, almost earthy hops, slightly herbal with hints of rosemary and mint. Nice long lasting minty herbal hop finish. Medium bodied. A nicely balanced IPA with the malt taking second place to the fresh hops, which have a different profile from the more standard NW 3-Cs hops. A nice change and nice blend of hop flavors. I liked this quite a bit. A consistently very good brewery.
