"T'is the season for a big, malty hop bomb! We load up our holiday brew up with enough Centennials to fill Santa's toy bag. A big malt bill provides a rich counterpoint to all those hops."
Brewed with organic Pilsner and Munich malt, imported crystal malts, and Centennial hops. 7.6% ABV, 83 BU

L: Hazy red orange body
S: Sweet; tropical hops, orange, a hint of caramel and dark fruit.
T: Quite hoppy upfront, tropical fruits and pine resin, then caramel malt and pine on the finish.
F: Well carbonated
O: Hoppier than expected. I tend to prefer a bit more malt presence in this style. Still plenty good, though.

Look: Clear medium red with an off-white head that billows nicely and settles to a lid on top, leaving great lacing as it does
Aroma: Floral hop notes, pine, citrus fruits – grapefruit and orange dominated, rose flowers, and rich bready malt notes
Taste: Sticky pine sap, a floral bouquet, and rose fly out of the gate and are quickly joined by waves of grapefruit rind and a little bitter orange. Awesome malt notes shove their way into the fold in the middle before more pine and flowers along with a nice hop bite close it out
Mouthfeel: Full, a little slick, medium-high carbonation, and noticeable dryness on the finish
Overall: This is fantastic stuff. I sadly had never tried this beer after years of seeing it so when my local shop got the newly packaged 6pks in, I snagged one. Such a delicious throwback winter beer that is a maltier-than-normal IPA using good ol’ Centennials that bring huge floral/rose/pine/citrus notes to the table. I’m a sucker for Centennial hops’ flavor/aroma profile so I’m sure I’m biased about my feelings on this beer but this is very tasty. Glad to have tried it finally and highly recommended, especially for Centennial hop fans

essentially a red ipa, not sure anything really ties this into holiday season other than the name and the label, but this is exactly the sort of beer these guys are so good at making, and its excellent for what it is, so i cant complain. better this than something real sweet and overly spiced, which seems to be the norm most of the time in the holiday releases. this has a lot of grain to it, but is never really sweet to me, toasted notes for sure, some toffee and caramel and even maple and honey, but its balanced the whole way as the hops are massive in this. piney with some spiciness and a snappy bite in the nose, oily and woodsy in taste, real bitter the whole way to counteract the malt, and lingering past any grain on the swallow. its not overly complex, but it is hearty and warming to me, even without any alcohol heat coming through. some fresh milled lumber, white pine, and grapefruit pith to the hops, a fresh ground weed thing too, and a little bit of a toasted biscuit vibe behind that. its solid beer, but for me this is good for any time of year basically from september through april, so maybe less holiday specific than i was looking for this christmas week, but whatever, its delicious.

Pours out beautifully, burnt orange and huge fluffy head. Aroma hints at the spiciness that follows in the taste. Not overwhelming, but complementary to the malt and hop profiles. Lingering savory flavors, slick and creamy body.

Appearance - slightly turbid amber color with good head retention.
Smell - malty sweet with slight spicy notes.
Flavor - very bitter the initial few sips which seens to be due to the resinous hop addition. Malty biscuit sweet with a medicinal finish. The high alcohol content is hidden well but the bitterness lingers.
Feel - nice on the tongue. Not too crisp with a good malty texture.
Overall - Too bitter for my taste buds. My preference is for a more citrus, piney taste in a winter warmer such as the Pfriem winter ale.

Really like this beer. Advertised as a Winter Warmer but seems more like an IPA; though it does have a certain je ne sais quoi quality that justifies its characterization.
Hop notes with a strong malt backbone. A slighty medicine undertone that contributes to the "quoi".
Have yet to taste a beer from Double Mountain that I didn't like... this is no exception
