"A proper stout to call our own...this brew is a quintessential Double Mountain interpretation of a classic style. Rich, creamy, roasty and beautifully bitter. Poured with a thick head, courtesy of nitrogen."
Brewed with organic Pilsner malt, black, brown crystal malts, roasted barley and Brewers' Gold hops. 4.5% ABV, 50 BU

Poured on tap at Double Mountain, 16 oz pint. Amazing 2 finger nitro head, light carmel color, thick whippy foam with hard retention. The nose is dark roasted malt, and a tinge of wood. The body is thick and creamy, really pleasant. The taste starts with bitter malt, goes into some coffee and chocolate, and finishes with hard roast and wood notes. The length of the finish is average. This is a very, very drinkable dry stout.
While not punchy in flavor, this beer is essentially American Guinness without being notoriously bland like American Guinness can be. It's a pleasant take.

a very technically sold irish stout here, just a tad deeper and more bitter than i am used to in the style, but a good example of it even still, and i like it being just a little more robust than most, creamy feeling, dry, dark roasted, with a little bite and some hops to it, my wife didnt love it, but its not her style, for me it was a nice smooth drinker, easy on a hangover and a nice way to get the day started. strong suggestions of black coffee in this, especially as it warms up, and primarily on the swallow, center of the tongue, with some staying power there. a light vegetal note on the back end too, also a little black peppery spice which is unique in this. i like the bready and identifiable irish ale yeast here, i like the crisp dry finish this has, crazy for its color, and the faint char and smoke layer is a nice touch too. i often think of irish stouts as a pounder of a dark beer, but this one moves just a little slower for me because of all the flavor, especially late. earthy and wet, roasted and clean, tasty beer, made frothy and smooth as can be by the nitro, a perfect format for this beer and really for this style in general. i like everything double mountain makes.

Nitro tap at the brewery in Hood River. Pours nearly black with a thick creamy, persistent, tan head that you would expect from a nitro stout. Taste is bitter dark roast and a bit of coffee and cocoa, as is the nose. Finishes dry and slightly bitter with a light to medium body.

Draft at Bittercreek on SPD... Didn't even realize it was a "holiday" when the wife and I walked in... and then the off-key assault of "only-okay" bagpipers start playing literally within arm-reach... They destroyed any semblance of a decent meal while the drunkards that don't understand the bagpipes are from fucking Scotland not fucking Ireland cheered with any hooligan chance they could muster.
The beer is pretty standard... Dark malt and some light cocoa.. finishes very dry.. black grain and a bit of sharp malt on the finish.. light body and still very drinkable.. Definitely not Guinness but a respectable attempt... doesn't have the expected twang.

On nitro tap at Simmzy's in Burbank, CA.
Pours an almost opaque super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of roasted malt, cocoa powder, nut, and earth aromas. Taste is much the same with cocoa powder, nut, earth, and char flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a smooth, creamy, and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is much more bitter than I was expecting for the style.
Serving type: on nitro tap.

Look : Deep black, 100% opaque, creamy head.
Smell : Lactose and coffee on the nose, little else and very weak.
Taste : Heavy on molasses, then sap, dark roast dry coffee, and a truckload of lactose.
Feel : Creamy, quite substantial, ending dry.
Overall : The nose was rather weak and the flavor made it hard to drink down. It was the last glass on the flight I ordered and I had to pound the rest. It just didn't come together, and I usually like dry stouts. The feel was okay, but I wouldn't order this again.
