Notes/Commercial Description:
Single Hop IPA

"Clusters were the dominant hop in the US brewing industry literally for centuries, and the forerunner for many of our modern Northwest varieties. They have a unique aroma with quite a bit of citrus and a heft of herbal goodness. The Clusterf#ck recipe features Clusters in the kettle, in the hopback and especially in the fermenter for dry-hopping. Pilsner and honey malts form the baseline; Clusters form the melody"

I'm on an IPA kick and this stood out on the shelf. I'm intrigued by the history of the Cluster hop.

Pours a bright blonde with a dab of amber and a thick head into my glass. In my opinion, ALL IPAs should be as bright as this.

True to the label, the nose is greeted with a spicy citrus kick from the Cluster hops. It doesn't overpower the nose and allows the malt to "breathe".

The spicy citrus mantra continues in the taste. Malt is similar to a buttery cracker and holds its' own against the hop flavors.

Carbonation is perfect with a touch of dryness at the back of the throat.

I have no regrets about this purchase and for the price, you get a marvelous Cluster hop IPA that tastes great and holds up well in the single-hop genre.

My buddy sent me a bottle of this , thanks erik, he told me at the brewery it is known as cluster-fuck.
A- couldn't see what it looked like but in dark reusable bottle.
S- very hoppy, slight citrus under tones and an earthy smell.
T- a little bite to it the hops jump out them settle down, slight fruit under tones definitely hit the American IPA well, and having a 7.30 abv.
M- as i said n earthy mouthfeel to it, the hops jump out then a little fruity taste comes in.
O- Overall i liked this beer, i have had better american IPAs but have had worse these guys at Double Mountain Brewery & Taproom know what their doing and cant wait try more of what they have. Would love to check out their brewery to see their operation in full swing.

500mL bottle into a tulip. Pours a clean pale coppery color w/ a big sudsy head, nice retention and lacing.

Aroma is floral and delicate with a subtle but distinctive hint of dank marijuana. Hm. Cluster hops indeed.

Taste is a blend of pale biscuity malt and floral, spicy NW hops. Some light citrus acidity too. Nice balance, pretty approachable.

Mouthfeel is soft and medium-bodied with just a gentle kick of bitterness on the finish.

Overall a pretty enjoyable but not outstanding IPA. Would drink again.

Appearance is hazy, glowing burnt gold with with a large, foamy off-white head that leaves chunks of foamy lace. Great label, this would make a killer tee-shirt!

Smell is pretty hoppy, as expected, with a fairly wide range of west coast hop notes - citric grapefruit, resin, a little grassy, a little skunky. Somewhat sweet as well, tropical fruits more than malt sugars, as well as sweet, clean ethanol.

Taste is a touch more aggressively hop forward, more to the pine, grass, bitter side, although the grapefruit is present as well. Also quite herbal. Faint cracker from the malt, and light sweetness on the finish lingers behind the firm bitterness.

Mouthfeel is dry and oily, medium-light bodied.

Drinkability is high, I really like the range of flavors from this hop, as a single hop IPA it doesn't lack complexity. Like the clean, light base malt beer as well, sturdy ABV well hidden, all around a really well done IPA.
