This is a sort of white whale to me. The thought of a Belgian golden base a bunch of rainier cherries and Bret makes me tingle

Look of a hazy pale yellow. Thin as hell lacing with a great gold hue

Smell of the strongest sour cherry you will ever smell. Strong tart pie like character. Amazing

Taste is the mouth puckering gOodness of cherry plum with a sweat Belgian funk

This beer is great and if you find it and love sours. Go for it

on-tap @ Belmont Station.
taster glass; from notes.

Pale golden, no head.

Sweet Rainier cherries upfront blends into sour, slightly Lacto backing.

Medium body, foamy mild carbonation.

While they were both good beers, I did prefer this version over the Devil's Kriek, as I thought this example of cherry sweetness melded better with the sour/tart components.

From notes on growler with thanks to beerific. Very good sour. Unfortunately, it’s too big for its own good and, probably because of that, there’s a light buttery note. Good sour cherries with a distinctive taste from the Rainiers. Light gold with a little head. Lots of lemon flavor. Strong pucker. Medium body for a sour. A bit of funk complexity but it’s mostly just a lacto sour cherry. Good beer, but it suffers from its strength, a fairly common problem for American sours.

Poured on tap @ Uber in Seattle.

It's a turbid toasted grain color with some fine white foam atop. Looks thick. Nose is strait up rainier cherries, bubble gum, straw and a hint of lacto character. Expecting this one to be limited tart and a bit too sweet - although I love Rainier cherries so that wouldn't be an issue. I stand correct, the beer is nicely tart with a good pepper punch to it and slight heat from the alcohol. I like how the rainier remains distinguished in the flavors alongside a nice lactic sourness. The beer is full bodied for the style with a lower carbonation, off dry and refreshing. A really nice beer I'm glad I have had the chance to give it a go. Gotta be careful with a 9% ABV packed in there.

Paper notes... Inflateablechair hooked this one up... Pours a slightly hazed yellow.. spotty lacing with a short lived head.

Nose is real cherry aromas with a bit of pink bubblegum phenols... nice lactic sour profile melds great with the cherries... fantastic fresh yellow sweet cherry notes...

Is this one "barrel aged".. not sure.. but the fruits are up front clearing the way for plenty of sour bits... more "tart than sour" with warmth... bits of almond... maybe even vanilla.

Body is a touch thick... carbonation is a little too light.... but this is a fantastic brew for somebody who really likes Rainier cherries.. no real "funk" ever shows, instead it is a lactic master with bunches of fruit in every sip.

Thanks Sam!! Very cool... I want to try and make a Rainier Cherry kriek.

On-tap at the Double Mountain taproom. Poured into a tulip glass. Reviewed from notes.

A - Pours a hazy pear color with a one-finger bubbly white head. Head dissipates almost immediately. No lacing whatsoever. This beer has a cider-like appearance.

S - A fruity tartness of pears and sour cherries. Funky Brett and faint oak notes. A slight grassy aroma floats in the background. Nothing really dominates.

T - The funky barnyard notes from the Brett come out more in the taste. The sour cherries come through in the middle. An lactic sourness finishes off the sip.

M - Light body with plenty of carbonation that creates a tingling sensation on the tongue. A slight sting from the alcohol could be felt but overall, the alcohol is well hidden. Finishes crisp and somewhat dry. A small amount of tartness sticks around in the aftertaste.

O - While I didn't think this beer was superior to many other krieks/sours, I had no problem enjoying a couple of them while at the taproom. A little unusual for a kriek but still very enjoyable. I am glad to see a smaller brewery such as Double Mountain being creative and brewing differnet styles other than the standard IPA, pale ale and stout.
