Funky, Phenolic, Cherries, Fruity

Brewed with local Rainier cherries, fermented with will brettanomyces, aged for over a year on cherries, and bottled conditioned. Golden, cloudy, a short-lived white lace that falls flat. Musty, funky, medicinal, wood in the nose. Creamy, medium-bodied, semi-sweet cherries, fruity, light tartness, suggestions of nectarines, tannic, oak, bready yeast, dry finish. More body than others within the style, with a unique fruity, cherry flavor that sets it apart.

375 ml bottle.
Poured pale golden and hazy.
The smell is sour and not very promising, but this has a splendid tart and fruity taste. Would prefer a more clearly defined cherry note.
Nice mouthfeel.

been waiting to drink this one. tonight just seemed like the night. aromas of strawberry/cherry milkshake fill the glass. the taste is tart with a noticeable wood presence. cherry finish is nice and long. love this beer, but it could stand to be a bit more sour

Lots of brettanomyces funk. No cherry or fruity overtones. Sweaty horse all the way. Not a fan.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Less red than the Devil's Kriek. Deep amber. No real head. Very thin collar.

Smell - Cherry. Caramel. Acetic acidity. Vanilla fills out the rest of the smell.

Taste - Pretty sour. Sour cherry. Caramel maltiness, but it's astringent.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation. Strong sourness.

Overall - Better than the Devil's Kriek. Not a really complex sour, but good.

A: orangish/amberish/tanish. Hazy. Little to no head.

S: acid. Vinegar. Slight fruit.

T: acidic, earthy, funky, lactic acid. There is actually cherry in the background.

M: high carbonation. Medium body. Dry. Sour.

O: good Brett beer. Funky and complex.

Thanks to Thomas and Jenny for this one!
Pale gold with a spotty edge of lace, lightly hazy.
Big stonefruit aroma, peach and apricot, Rainier cherry, not your typical robitussin cherry from the usual suspects. Something a bit different and unique that works here.

Taste is nicely tart, acidic and tannic with noticeable cherry skin and pulpy stonefruit. Crisp and juicy, stimulates the salivary glands into overdrive. Overall it's really unique, Rainier is an interesting cherry variety.

Appearance. Pours a hazy gold with a thin withe head that fades fast.

Smell. Tart cherries, some light woody funk and wheaty malts. Quite nice.

Taste. Dry brett and woody funk is what strikes me first, some sour and tart cherry. Pretty dry finish.

Mouthfeel. Medium body, medium/strong carbonation.

Overall. Not amazing but interesting enough to keep going back for another sip.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.

Deep apricot yellow and tropical mango looking, with quite a bit of snapping carbonation and fizz off the pour. No head or collar, but a nice barely noticeable middle column of carbonation in the middle, and a simple glow to it. Solid.

Great and fascinating aroma on this. Cake like vanilla and a big mix of soft juiced tart fruits of cherries, peaches, and apricots, a virtual smorgasborg in there. Creamy sensing like icing sugar a bit, but with a mild acid quality, even a bit of moderate funk and earth to match. I am really in love with this bouquet, smells like a treat you find in a bakery more than anything.

Palate though seems to come moderately with less fanfare and surprises. Banana to tropical punch fruit quality, with a big juiced finish. Moderate carbonation but with lots mushy fruit flavor in the mid palate, but has a little playful and tingly carbonation. Moderate acetic quality comes out nicely to cut through and let the tartness make it's presence.

Overall was expecting something wonderful, but was not totally let down. This is definitely one beer I would go back to and revisit again.

Paper notes... Inflateablechair hooked this one up... Pours a slightly hazed yellow.. spotty lacing with a short lived head.

Nose is real cherry aromas with a bit of pink bubblegum phenols... nice lactic sour profile melds great with the cherries... fantastic fresh yellow sweet cherry notes...

Is this one "barrel aged".. not sure.. but the fruits are up front clearing the way for plenty of sour bits... more "tart than sour" with warmth... bits of almond... maybe even vanilla.

Body is a touch thick... carbonation is a little too light.... but this is a fantastic brew for somebody who really likes Rainier cherries.. no real "funk" ever shows, instead it is a lactic master with bunches of fruit in every sip.

Thanks Sam!! Very cool... I want to try and make a Rainier Cherry kriek.
