Huge thanks to my buddy rathakem for this unexpected surprise. Enjoyed from a double mountain snifter. Bottled 1/24/14

Brew poured pinkish orange with a thin bubbly , cap that was gone as quick as it formed. Nose is soft tart cherry. Taste matches. Really big acidic tartness, but not overly so and not plasticy or nail polish like. Easy drinker with prickly carbonation. Really nice vinous American kreik. The Brett is not noticeable at all. Body is just super smooth...gray sourness but without the pucker.

375 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Less red than the Devil's Kriek. Deep amber. No real head. Very thin collar.

Smell - Cherry. Caramel. Acetic acidity. Vanilla fills out the rest of the smell.

Taste - Pretty sour. Sour cherry. Caramel maltiness, but it's astringent.

Mouthfeel - Low carbonation. Strong sourness.

Overall - Better than the Devil's Kriek. Not a really complex sour, but good.

Poured from 375mL bottle into a tulip. This is the 2012 vintage, bottled 1/15/14; ABV is listed at 8.4% on this bottle.

Appearance: pinkish-amber hue with a tiny touch of haze and a strong effervescence. Head was champagne-like; pours very fizzily and quickly dissipates to nothing. Interesting!

Smell: very tart aroma with just a hint of cherry under-notes. Not bad, but relatively simple.

Taste: extremely tart right up front, which a cherry character that builds on the palate. It shows up more in the aftertaste than anything else, and really starts to come together with each successive sip. There's also a light caramel character which helps the cherry along. Quite good.

Mouthfeel: light body with a great big carbonation. Not creamy, per se, but bright and refreshing; perfect for this style.

Overall: this beer rubs me the right way. I could drink a cubic hectare of this, probably.
