Stopped here after a recommendation from locals and the folks at Full Sail. Did a flight and thought it was a little on the pricey side, but their beers were at least solid, with their Kriek standing out about others (at least to me). Placed that afternoon was packed, and it seemed to really have the right vibe for a brew pub. I didn't try any food, and the service was ok although it was very busy and could maybe normally be better when it wasn't. They did have a decent line up of beers for a brewery I didn't know anything about and I would probably visit there again if in Hood River to hike more of the trails to the 77 waterfalls in the gorge.

CANT BELIEVE THIS PLACE -- Doesn't have more reviews.
i had a great time there. this was partly due to the fact that some group of mexican farm/grocery workers, all solid-seeming hard-working american guys kept buying me beers and beers!
i was there with my girlfriend and we were chilling on the couch when they came in and there was bunch of them and they needed a big area so we moved and let them get their afterwork banter on -- it was a good scene. anyway... so as soon as i had finished half a beer i got another one -- it was like i was cool so i was sort of in their crew for the night. i tried to buy them back but it just resulted in me getting more beer.
it was all the places' brew -- and after swilling there all night, i still wasn't too foggy in the morning. it is a testament to the decency of the place and the freshness of the beer -- the good vibe.
we never went to fullsail -- spent the night in Hood River -- and Double Mountain Ruled!

Visited 6.10.2010 on way to Beervana.
Located on a side street off the main downtown Hood River drag, a block or so from Full Sail, Double Mountain has moved past 'the new kid on the next block' label to becoming a force in the Oregon brewing scene.
The taproom features a small 8 seat bar, about 8 tables and 3 outdoor tables, and a comfy couch in the corner. The staff was attentive and cheery without being pushy. When I visited they had 8 beers on tap, their regular products (Kolsch, Hop Lava IPA, IRA, Molten Lava DIPA, Vaporizer( and several rotating taps. They were selling quite a bit of food, burgers, sandwiches, and the pizza looked especially good and popular. Fairly cool vibe, mostly locals, classic rock Stones, Pink Floyd playing.
While the beer prices were certainly on the high side, all the beer is off exceptional high quality. Worth a stop when traveling though the area, and certainly needs to be included with Walking Man as must stops on a Gorge beer tour.
EDIT- Some of the best pizza outside the PDX market. I have a number of friends who travel from Portland for pizza and a beer.

After enjoying a brewery tour at Full Sail, we headed over to Double Mountain to finish up the afternoon. We had a sampling of the Devil's and Rainier Kriek's in addition to the Hop Lava. The Kriek's were fantastic! (2009 vintage) Especially the Rainier.
There were plenty of other beers on tap and I wish I had it in me to try more but we had just finished a session at the Full Sail tap room and drinking more was not in the cards.
Pretty cool vibe and story behind the place. Super low key, nice outdoor seating, an overall friendly place. Love the logo...cool merchandise. Weather was great! Good memories and I can't wait to go back.

Gosh I'm a bit disappointed. We were there on a Sunday night, reasonably busy but pulled right up to the bar. We were there to sample a variety of beers and the bartender told us they don't like to pour more than a few samples at a time "so they don't get too warm." Umm... what? #1 quality beers open up nearer to room temp, and #2 we had two people splitting the samples, how long were they gonna last? She poured us 5 after some verbal massaging (very cool of her) and overall they were a bit underwhelming. Killer Green is my favorite fresh hop beer but honestly most other things have been a bit low on flavor for me. The winner of this flight tonight was the Devil's Kriek but even that was fairly tame. We paid and left without a trace. I'd go back if they had something special on, but otherwise it's a miss, although the pizza looked tasty.

After a nice day of hiking in the Gorge, I stopped here for the first time instead of my usual haunt at Full Sail. It's a small place but with an inviting atmosphere. There was reggae music playing, a mostly full seating area and bar with friendly patrons, a cooler with bombers of their beers, and a decent selection of their brews on draft.
I enjoyed a Hop Lava. The menu is pretty restricted but features good pizza. You can see the Columbia River from the front of the seating area but it doesn't have the commanding view like the Full Sail restaurant. Definitely worth a stop if you're in Hood River.

I visited this place on 3/23/2010.
As others have mentioned, this place is right around the corner from Full Sail. Its a smallish place but the atmosphere is great. Cool copper covered bar with an older style bar back complete with big mirror. There was a sort of hipster crowd in there on my visit, with ages ranging from 20's to late 40's. Great music coming through the speakers...loud enough to rock but not loud enough to prohibit conversation.
The beers were really well made and ranged from good to exceptional. We had the english IPA (good), the kolsch (better), and the Belgian kriek (exceptional). Would have had more beers but they close at 10:00pm on weekdays!
The bartender was friendly and knowledgable and the beers were modestly priced. I bought a growler to go and the bottle was $4 and the beer in it was $11.
All in all a great little pub that makes very good beer. Highly recommended!

Well next time your in Hood River don't pass this spot up. Just around the corner from the large Full Sail brewery.
They have plenty of styles of beers to choose from from double IPAs to robust porters.
I stopped in after a visit to Full Sail, small but unique brewpub with about 10 taps, of their brew.
Tried the winter seasonal Falalala, and wow this is a strong ale with great hop taste. Also had the Hoplava which is a great IPA.
Food looked good, however I had already ate before getting here.

Stopped by Double Mountain a couple of times during a weekend camping trip near Hood River... wow, I was really glad I found this place! I had a feeling it would be pretty awesome when I stepped out of my car and could smell wort drifting on the evening breeze from around the corner! First night, I tried the Hop Lava and finished things off with a couple of Dapper Dan's (their 3.7% session ale) - also had the turkey and cheddar sandwich, which was nothing mindblowing, but definitely filled me up and was stacked with meat and cheese. The vibe was pretty chill, and the staff was friendly - eager to chat about kite surfing, snowboarding and beer. Stopped back in on my way to Portland and had the Killer Green fresh hopped IPA, which was awesome. A nice, chill spot to have a couple of delicious beers -

After a wonderful hike, Double Mountain was the first stop for four thirsty wanderers (including msubulldog25). It couldn't have made a better lunch destination. We sat outside, and the view of Washington state across the river was as majestic as you might imagine.
The smell of wort/hop pellets wafted through the place, which was incredibly inviting and helped whet our appetites for their beer. I got their "strong Belgian-style" ale, Inglemunster, which I could award "beer of the vacation" (and I had a solid week of truly great beer). Also sampled the oak-aged version and their Kolsch. Each tasted fantastic, convincing that these people totally know what they're doing. It'll probably be awhile, but I can't wait to taste their brews again someday.
Their Margherita pizza is excellent. Their method of cooking it at nearly 700 degrees for a very short time assures a fresh taste while giving the crust a little char, which only added to the depth of the flavor. If there were a PizzaAdvocate.com, I would easily give it a 4.5.
Service was just fine, and the overall vibe of the place was one of warmth, friendliness and natural beauty. It was at the beginning of a long day of wonderful beer, great food and excellent company, and remains the standout of what turned out to be a legendarily memorable day. Thanks to my hosts Brian, Sharon and Bryce for an incredible time.
