Appearance is dark brown with ruby and copper colors on the edges. There was a finger of head that retained for a bit. The nose was mildly roasty. As for the taste, roasted malts were present throughout and this offering had a mild bitterness on the finish. This is a standard, drinkable, but definitely unremarkable, porter.

12oz bottle, no bottling date. Thanks Matt for sending this one my way. Poured into an unlabeled snifter today, 11/1/2013.

Pours a very dark, opaque black body with a ton of offwhite head. It took a few minutes to do a full pour. Lacing is very nice, a bit spotty but very sticky.

Smells fairly tame. Quite soapy actually, with a slight hint of butter. Then there's not a whole lot else. Not much hint of the underlying malts.

Flavour is quite smoky and roasty. This is what a solid porter should bring to the table in one form or another. A bit of dark chocolate bitterness, a lot of smokiness and some roastiness. Finishes off with some char. Quite a bit like a campfire, but without the sweetness of smores.

Thinner bodied, creamy and very highly carbonated. Leaves a dry, smoky finish on the palate. Drinkable, no hint of alcohol. Sessionable.

Solid porter. Not the best by any means especially compared to shelf porters like Edmund Fitzgerald or Black Butte. But its solid.. if you don't have access to the aforementioned porters and this is local to you, then this isn't a bad choice. But its certainly not the best choice.

This poured out as a pretty decent looking porter. It had a nice looking dark color with a thin tan head on top. The beer was served a bit on the warmer side. Not sure if it was intentional or if they had a problem with their cooling system. Either way, the smell of the beer had some nice roasted aromas coming off of it. The taste of the beer was pretty good, I feel the warmer temperature brought out some of the additional flavors in the brew. The mouthfeel was pretty smooth, nothing to really complain about here. Overall I would probably order it again sometime.
