Purchased by my fiance for Valentine's Day 2011.
She purchased at Wegmans in Warrington, PA.
The cost was: $8.99/4pk
Enjoyed in DFH Signature Glass.

A - Pours a deep, golden amber color, rather translucent. Pours with a thick, one finger head that quickly dissipates into a creamy covering on top of the beer. A good amount of sticky lacing coats the side of the glass as I enjoy!

S - Awesome citrusy, hoppy smell. One of the best smelling IPA's I've ever had the pleasure of sampling. I have a really good feeling about this already!

T - An awesome combination of cirtusy goodness, very grapefruity, with an unbelievable amount of hoppiness to back it up. Slightly on the sweeter side with a great backbone of maltiness round out this outstanding tasting beer!

M - A far amount of combination gives a nice bite after each sip. A full bodied, moderately heavy beer. Not a session beer due to the high ABV and slight heaviness of the brew.

D - A fantastic tasting beer. A classic IPA taste but packed so full of hops. At 11.5% I know I shouldn't drink more than one or two of these but, damn, these are fantastic! The alcohol, even at this high amount, is phenomenally disguised.

Overall - One of the best tasting DIPA's I've ever laid lips to. A top-5 beer in every sense. A trip to Wegmans to pick up more is definitely in order. Highly recommended!

Follow-up - I can't stop buying this beer! Really, one of my go-to, top-5 beers! I've bought may, many 4-pks since this initial review.

(no dates on the bottle - poured into a tulip)

A: fairly clear, fiery amber hued liquid... spongy, sticky off-white foam atop... I saw somewhere where this is supposedly bottle-conditioned - I'm not sure that's the case with this bottle, as it poured remarkably polished for a hop bomb

S: melange of citrus aromas with an acidic edge to them... zesty, grassy... perhaps a bit of a mild toasty, caramelized character in the background - mid-dark crystal malt covered in citric acid?... the alcohol is pretty well-tempered by the juicy malts that come more to the fore

T: the alcohol does, however, surge right on through to the back of the throat upon first sip - medicinal, with an unrefined, cheap vodka quality to it, and it sets up shop back there for the duration... luckily, this is met in brashness and boldness by the pungent, pith-y citrus tones of the hops... light showing of pale and light crystal malts in the aftertaste, a bit of black pepper as well... quite bitter and spicy-hot hops hold on the back of the tongue, with a slight vegetal, tannic nuance to them, kinda like putting some whole-flower hops in your mouth and just sucking on them... but, all in all, the taste is pleasingly well-tailored and crisp, with the booze doing its fair share to keep the volume loud

M: medium-full bodied up front, but excellently dry in the finish... easy as hell to knock back, not at all weighty

O: exceeded my expectations, I suppose... actually fine work for an IPA of this magnitude... I'd certainly recommend it for hop lovers looking to have their palates shredded

One of the most complex beers I've had lately. The bitterness is followed by a lovely sweet aroma and aftertaste. Pours virtually no head but the lovely amber color of the brew compensates for it.

Got this bottle in a recent trade as an extra. Thanks to my many trading partners for giving me new beers to try

Poured this into my FFF pint glass. Pored a hazy amber with a small off white head. Ample lacing on the side of the glass

The aroma was very nice citus and grapefruit. Very nice

Taste was a bit over powering. Strong hop charitor needs to have the malt more forward to balance flavor. Not a strong finish, but hot in the middle

Very bity mouthfeel from the hops and the achool

Overall an averag DIPA. Need to balance the beer better

Still working through some notes...

This beer's color is something of a dark yellow-orange nearing amber. One finger's height of off-white head manages good retention and leaves a mix of spotty and patchy lacing in good quantity well down the glass.
The nose is certainly hoppy, mingling citrus, resin, and an herbal/floral mix along with a woody aspect and an interesting sweetness. A bit of caramel malt peeks through and balance is good, though it could be better. Someone wanted to go as big as they could, and a fusel alcohol shows it. Balance is lost for an attempt at overpowering, it seems. This is a nice aroma, but shows a lack of refinement.
Nothing could be said differently of the flavor, which could be generally summarized as sweet and hoppy with a highly fusel alcohol edge. The bitterness is nice, but the sweetness edges on cloying and a little more balance is needed.
The body is on the fuller side of medium, with good depth. The level of carbonation is at a median in my opinion, and there's enough crispness to stay lively and smoothness isn't foregone.
To summarize: a good beer that needs some refinement and balance.

A- This beer was poured into a pint glass. Has a white foamy inch of head. Moderate lacing

S-You can smell that it is packed with hops it smells potent.

T- For being 11.5 percent alcohol it does hide it very well. It goes down smooth for being so potent.

overall- It will sneak up on you and get you. After 6 or 7 you should be feeling alright.

Had this at the brew works a couple of times, i was tempted to buy a bottle at the bethlehem site at first but found out that it was on-tap here

poured into a 12oz snifter with a ruby reddish color, could def smell the booze and hop in it, tastes a bit sweet like DFH 90 without as much bitter aftertaste, being 11.5% it is a bit boozy to the tongue

at a 100 ibu's its def a usual when i go to the brew works but no more than one
