Usiing notes from the first (and only) time I have had this beer. Publix supermarkets had this on special as a BOGO for $8.99 two sixers. Thought, WTH?

S- Opened and first thing is the smell, not too good. Small head, no lacing, is this beer or water?

T- Tasting this beer is NOT GOOD. The smell sets the stage for the uninviting first sip. Is there a rating below awful? I mean giving this beer a full point for something that should be a negative number is ludicrous.

M- Water has a better mouthfeel and I hate drinking water.

D- Negative 245 points. Never again. The worst thing is that I have 5 more of these and another 6 pack of Key West Lager that I still have a couple of months later.

If I have an archnemesis that someday stops by unannounced, or someone I really want to get rid of quickly (or potentially harm by poison ingestion) this is the thing to do it. If you are a broke college kid and want 11 free beers, BM and they are yours free and clear, just come get them, have ID and sign a waiver that you won't be using these for consumption on humans.

Not good are the 2 best words I can think of to sum this beer right up. First of all, the most noticeably bad thing about this one is the smell. I guess in sticking with their "beach theme" they seemed to capture that sort of funky smell that a mens outdoor locker room at a local public beach has. You know that smell, its a mix of sand, body odor, salt water, and a touch of raw sewage coming through the toilet and shower water. I kid you not. I know that sounds like a wisecracking, comedic jerk response... but that is really what it smells like. I'm convinced I must have got a batch with contaminated water and the tester missed it or didn't care. No one could put something out that smelled this bad purposely. Not that I really need to go much further past that... but it didn't taste good or either. To be honest I could only stomach half the bottle that I poured in to a glass before I pitched it. Just don't even bother wasting your time on this one.

Appearance: Pours a clear, yellow body with a small, thinnish, white head.

Smell: Faint nose, overall, only a bit of cereal, grain, and floral hints.

Taste: Some cereal, some grains, light floral, light bitterness, and you're done.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Medium carbonation. Watery.

Drinkability: 82 calories never tasted so dull.

12oz twist-off bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Pours a golden yellow color with a thin fizzy white head. The aroma is pretty faint with some grainy malts and just a touch of hops. The taste is sweet malt with just a touch of hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is light bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation, and is a little on the watery side. Overall, this is a decent lawnmower beer or a beer you can enjoy at the beach in the warm weather. However, I just don't see myself purchasing again.

Key West Pilsner Light pours a pale yellow from a clear twelve ounce bottle. The aroma is skunky, think Corona. Light, crisp body, the flavor is on the sweet side of Mexican style lagers. The label proclaims that "Key West Pilsner Light is a light-bodied, low claorie Pilsner, delicately balanced between the sweetness of 100% malted barley and the crisp, finish of German hops. An average analysis shows that one 12 oz. bottle contains 93 calories, 2.6 carbohydrates, 1g protein and 0g fat." A reasonable substitute for Corona if that's what you are looking for.

Not too bad, but not too good. A decent thirst quencher for those hot Florida days. Lighty malty with a clean citrus-ey note that doesn't get grainy, vegetal, or husk like. A lightly creamy texture saves this beer for me. It makes me want to rate this one similarly to a Kolsch. The hop rate is decent, but comes dangerously close to skunk. The beer shows good proteins and head retention for it's style. Though I'll not be crazy about trying another, I can't rate it too low either.

Almost no taste to this beer. More watery than a miller light and you really don't want another one after your first. Might have been better with a bit of lemon or lime but even on a hot day it wasn't a welcome drink. I made my friend drink the rest of the six pack and he didn't die so thats about the onyl good think i can think to say.

I'm perhaps a tad biased in favor of this one, there being so few Florida beers and me being a Florida native.

With that in mind, as objectively as possible, I say this tastes like watered down Corona. It comes in a straw-golden color, perhaps a shade or two lighter than the usual light pilsner. Nose isn't much to write home about, just sorta vaguely malty, unimpressive scent. The taste is remarkably watery, but with a definate citric tilt.

Hoping to find something interesting to do with this brew, I shoved a fairly good sized slice of lime in it. I'd highly recommend this, the watery aspects of the beer just make the lime come out that much more strongly.

All in all, one of the more drinkable light beers I've found. Not impressive, but not too bad either.

Key West: Brewed on Key West Florida, in a 12 oz brown bottle. Blurb on the neck ring claims that this beer is made with nothing but malt, hops, yeast and water. The appearance is slightly cloudy, with a dazzling white head. The aroma is chalky and a little mild. Not too bad, extremely light tasting, light bodied, with just a pleasant bite of hops and skunk at the end. Again, not too bad, on the beach.
