The pride of McGuire's!
Our Red Ale was the first beer we brewed and remains our most popular. Beer gurus Michael Jackson and Fred Eckhardt have both praised its smooth and malty character. This full bodied ale is great for sipping and goes well with most food, especially McGuire's great steaks!

Had on tap at McGuires. Dark reddish brown with a thin head and lacing. Smells of sweet molasses and grain. Flavors are perfectly blended, sweet but not too sweet. Excellent

Look: nice amber, copper color with a slight bit of haze and a solid foamy head.
Smell: almost marzen like notes of malt, hint of sour yeast note.
Taste: a good dosage of steeping grain flavor, hops are more of a peppery flavor than a bittering.
Feel: a little thin for my taste in the mouthfeel which leaves a slight disconnect to the flavor of the beer. I wish there was a little more body to carry this beer over but then again it isn't supposed to be a heavy beer.
Overall: A fine Irish style, just wish for more body and maybe a little more yeast character, I love the way the adjunct grains shine through the finished product.

Tasted from a 12 oz can (poured into a Duvel tulip) bought in the Florida Panhandle.
L - Color is light for an Irish Red, more of a burnished gold than even copper, let alone red. Decent clarity but not brilliant. Nice, fluffy cream colored head and zillions of tiny bubbles constantly rising through the beer.
S - Not much on the nose at all. Light caramel from the malt, maybe some earthy hops, but at an extremely low level.
T - Low malt flavors are mostly caramel, with no roastiness to speak of. Earthy, herbal, slightly spicy hops in line with English varieties expected for the style. Flavors are light and appealing, but not overly interesting.
F - Light body almost seems watery, except there is enough residual sugar to give a mouthcoating sensation. Moderate carbonation. Low hops bitterness. Very light alcohol presence.
O - This is a decent Irish Red. It is smooth and drinkable with no flaws but also is not a distinctive example of the style to me.

Gifted by daughter 12/24/19. Poured from the 12 oz. bottle into an English nonick pit.
a; Murky copper with hardly any head.
s; Caramel malt.
t: Follows the nose, mild bitterness on the sweetish finish.
m; Lighter side of medium, good body and some carbonation tingle.
o; A decent Irish Red, maltier than some and not as clear as some but drinkable enough, looks and tastes somewhat like a dark hard cider.

I've had this on draught and from the bottle, they aren't too different. Though I experienced more bitterness and drying from the bottle. Pours an amber colour with a short head. The smell is deceptively simple, because the taste is rich and refreshing, bit of malts come through nicely with a slight sourness. Overall, it is surely a quality beer and pairs oh so well with a good ruben, bratwurst and even nachos if you're feeling it!

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a hazy, amber color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, a bit sweet. Taste is well balanced. Malts up front, hops at the finish, some hints of caramel. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.
