Moderate head that settles at a regular pace, leaving some foamy lace on the glass. Pale amber color and hazy.

This brew smells creamy with a strong alcohol nose. The hop is completely floral but also very light.

The flavor matches aroma. Plenty of caramel and pale malt flavors. The alcohol is also stronger than most DIPAs. Yet, the hop is quite understated. It's present, but this certainly no hop bomb. The aftertaste is balanced and moderate. Almost oilily in the body; low carbonation.

A:
Pours a pale gold with tinges of a funky green around the edges. Has a frothy white inch-and-a-half head with some lacing and good retention.

S:
Cantaloupe, sugar, weed, hay.

T:
Ripe melon drizzled in lime juice with a slight bitterness and some fresh cut grass.

M:
Crisp and refreshing with good carbonation up front, underneath there is a very pervasive melon flavor (I think so at least, it is really sweet but not in the citrusy or malty way you usually get with beer), earthy, bitter finish.

O:
Really tasty and (if not for the high ABV) a good session beer. It really is a sweet that I am not used to in most readily accessible beers. Could be hoppier to fit the style better. There are hops but it is mainly the linger hop "feeling" that you notice. There don't seem to be strong hop *flavors*. I liked it but since it is advertised as a Double IPA I expected something a little more punch-you-in-the-face bitter. Would drink again.

Got this one at Peluso in Montreal. Fantastic store.

From a 500ml bottle into a snifter

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger, medium looking, off-white head with good retention. Hazy burnt umber in color with no carbonation evident. Head fades to a faint wisp and ring, though only a splotchy wisp remains until the end, leaving no lacing down the glass. Decent look.

SMELL: Pale malts, honeydew melon, cantaloup, and some light caramel notes. Some hints of floral hops round it out nicely. Decent.

TASTE: Pale and caramel sweetness up front, with some piney hops and floral bitterness at the swallow. Bold and persistent aftertaste of piney and bitter hops, floral notes, and a touch of melon sweetness as balance. Quite nice actually.

PALATE: Medium-light body with medium levels of carbonation. Quite creamy smooth on the palate, goes down nicely and finishes slightly dry. Lighter for sure, but not as bad as Turcault or D'Esgly, and creamy enough to compete.

OVERALL: Along with their imperial stout Laforge, this is one of their better efforts. Like all their beers, this one is flavorful and interesting, but the palate isn't quite up to snuff. I'd like to see these guys thicken up the feel and make their big beers a little heavier, as that would really make these brews a more enjoyable experience. Try this one if you get the chance.

No apparent freshness date.

An absurd amount of head on this one. A restrained pour just fills up the glass with white head. Beer is a caramel colour, rather orange.

Some citrus scents in the nose, but these are less obvious than the sweet caramel malt that dominates the scent. Pine is there as well.

Taste is a surprise after the nose, and not a pleasant one. Doesn't taste very similar to any DIPA I have had. A taste of ginger is strong, the whole beer has a distinct mineral taste and the citrus flavours are present but subdued. The sweet caramel malt is in there. Finish is minerally and not very pleasant. Beer is bitter. Not very good.

Full bodied, high carbonation level, a bit oily.

Overall, a disappointing beer. Not sure what is happening with this one but I am not a fan.

Bottle from Broue HAHA. From notes.

A - Dark gold pour. Bright with mild carbonation. One finger of white head leaving a film of retention and sticky lace all around.

S - Dusty citric hops, bread, pineapple.

T - Pineapple, booze, dusty hops again.

M - Mild carbonation, slightly watery body, very little bitterness.

O/D - Simple. Not balanced and not really all that tasty. Not good for the style. Not something I'd seek out. Definately needs work.

500 ml bottle into a tulip glass.

The pour here is initially pretty foamy but once everything settles down and gets into the glass, this reveals a clear copper body topped with several fingers of eggshell-white head. This simmers down into a sudsy ¾ finger that drenches the sides of the glass with thick swathes of foamy lacing. The aroma smells of off character, with a medicinal or almost plastic smelling flavor to the nose that is hard to get past. A touch of floral and bitter citrus accents can kind of be felt edges, while there is also maybe some sweet graininess across the back. It’s hard to tell.

Those off-flavors unfortunately carry over to the taste, hanging on the edges of the profile and surrounding more hoppy notes of raw green citrus flavor. Sweet grains from the malt and some tropical fruit notes seem to mostly balance the hops up front but then this ends HARD, with a harsh pithiness that is only made worse by those off-flavors. The mouthfeel is medium to fuller bodied, with a carbonation that has more of a creamy slickness to it despite the relative fullness of the body. There is some light heat here and while it isn’t overly warm, it does draw out a bit too much bitterness from the hops for my taste.

Eh, I mostly found this beer to be a mess. Even without the off-flavors, this didn’t seem well crafted to me at all, with way too much of an unbalanced raw hoppiness being present. I think it’s time to move on to something else from these guys.

I found this beer out of the island of montreal. In terrebonne.Never had any d'orleans before.Liked the label and I'm a sucker for double ipa's.Poured into my dogfish head snifter with a one finger head.Nice smell.Nothing out of the norm.
The taste and mouthfeel caught me the most off guard.
I fool myself thinking I like a certain beer in a certain style. This beer suprised me.Very balanced. No after taste.crisp and clean.
Very much enjoyed it.
The cost would keep me from drinking this beer all the time.
Single bottle more than cost of a pint at a bar.Very good though.
One of the best double ipa's from quebec I have had.

pours a cloudy burnt orange. not much head.

smell was good. hoppy, sweet. fruity, some citrus.

taste was malty - slight hops in the aftertaste, kind of bitter and alcohol noticeable.

overall i didn't find it to be that impressive but still an okay drink.
