Dark brown body with Coca-Cola highlights, topped by an enormous dense light tan head. Minimal lacing.

Deep roasted coffee aroma, very inviting.

Smooth roasted taste, solid foundation. Small pleasant sour accent. Earthy hop bite.

Smooth slick mouthfeel.

A really well done porter. A must try in Mass.

12 oz bottle poured into a stout glass.

Appearance: Pours a near-black with some dark brown at the edges. Lacing is very minimal and gone instantly. No lacing. Somewhat heavy carbonation. 3.75

Aroma: The nose is more faint than I expected but it's there. Black coffee, roasty malt and dark chocolate dominate. 3.75

Taste: Good stuff. The taste follows the nose, and the flavors are bold while the alcohol is mild. Roasted coffee beans lead the way. Some bitterness, but it's kind of muted by the coffee and roasty notes. It's a really smooth, flavorful porter. 4.25

Mouthfeel: It's velvet-smooth with a mild finish. A pleasure to drink. 4.5

Overall: I had high hopes for this, and it didn't disappoint. Fans of domestic porters should seek it out. It's a balanced, flavorful, easy-drinking porter that should please all dark beer fans.

Served in a pint glass at Estelles in Boston.

Appearance: A one finger mocha head was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pitch black color with no vision of anything. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Roasty, smoke, chocolate, toffee, caramel, old and stale ale, and some earthy qualities.

Taste: Smoke, toffee, caramel, earthy, chocolate, roasty, and some old stale ale qualities.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, light to medium bodied, a little bitter, and medium carbonation.

Overall: Very exceptional porter. Spot on for the style.

Serving type: on-tap

Mayflower Brewing Company - Mayflower Porter, poured into a Fiddlehead snifter.

Look - Pours a low viscosity brown, settling black, with a good sized foamy off-white head that dissipates quickly. Good lacing.

Smell - Aroma is malt, coffee, and a touch of chocolate, simple but effective.

Taste - Taste is traditional English porter. A touch of roasted malts and some coffee/chocolate sweetness. Great finish.

Mouthfeel - Low-medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Amazing drinkability. Keep wanting more and more.

Overall - Spectacular English porter, easily my favorite so far. The current trend is towards imperials but it's nice to find a great "regular" porter/stout time and again.

A: Black with a nice creamy tan head

S: Coffee and roasted notes

T: Coffee and creamy. Lots of flavor for a 5.5% porter. Not toooo complex.

M: Medium bodied. Dry finish

O: Very good porter. Not sure I'd take it over a Sierra Nev porter, Edmund Fitz, or Anchor porter but glad I had it.
