Special thanks to Chris at Bella Vista in Philly for sharing this rarity in these parts.

Beer pours a very fluid golden clear into a thick Cantillon glass. A very airy, frothy 2-finger white head settles into an almost nonexistent cap for the rest of the drink. No lacing. It's clear this beer is well attenuated and crisp.

The aroma is light and crisp with a strong aroma of malty biscuit flavors. Light hop bitterness to keep the aroma crisp and refreshing.

Taste is refreshing and light. Flavor is full of malt flavor but with very little if any sweetness. Light fruit notes come through in the middle and then subtle bitterness follows through toward the finish.

Mouthfeel is clean, crisp and refreshing. Strong carbonation moves thr beer fluidly throughout the mouth and makes for an even more quenching drink.

Nice. Definitely a nice session beer on a hot summer day. Will look for this one in the future. (918 characters)

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #36 (Jan 2010):

Bright, shiny golden color, actively bubbly with a head to show for it. A mild spicy, fruity, minty edge of hop aroma meets a light biscuity grain for a pleasing nose. It might have a lighter body, which is fine for the style, but the malt goes above and beyond, at least up front. Dry with a big biscuity tone. Hops jump in the balance with a spicy herbal flavor and slightly sharp bitterness. A hint of shortbread and herbal hop in the dry finish.

Style-wise, Mayflower amped it up enough to bring it from potentially mundane to a killer session ale. (610 characters)

Appearance: yellow gold, clear, medium carbonation, small head

Smell: a bit of wheat and malt. Not overly descript

Taste: a wheaty malty taste with a bit of honey texture--very complex for the style

Mouthfeel: smooth and sweet

Drinkability: Yeah--my 100th review here. For the style, this one is excellent as it is more complex than most American Blonde Ales...Sort of what you wish macro beer could be, but light years ahead of it. More of a summer beer but certainly sessionable..Overall exceptional for the style. (520 characters)

First time trying one of the Mayflower Beers. It came in a 12 variety pack. The pour was not very interesting. Very light color with a light head that didnt last too long.
There was really no distinguishable aroma in the nose. The taste was very light as was the aftertaste.
It was however very clean and crisp. From that point of view, I think it is a good summer beer and still above the large beer companies light ales (421 characters)

Good drinkability though a malt story. Deep golden body with foaming offwhite head. The aromas are a little distracting. Good malts, remind me of European, with a mild hop finish, nicely carbonated. Refreshing on the first warm day of spring.
Thanks Dr.Jay. (256 characters)

Not a fan of the style in general but here it goes:

Poured form a 12 oz bottle into a nonic tumbler- pours a clear golden strawy color with 2.5 fingers of creamy white head. Has great retention, minimal splashes of lacing. Visibly effervescent.

Nose is pretty round and wheat-y. A little yeast as well. Appealing but nothing special.

Taste is more complex than the smell- of course there's some round wheat notes mid-palate and in the finish, but up front there's a little pale barley, and a touch of hop bitterness. Pretty clean.

Mouthfeel is nice- very light body, moderate to full carbonation. This is a very well-crafted, very light, low ABV summer beer. That's all that I would recommend it for but it is summer now so enjoy. (735 characters)

Bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint. Beautiful, clear gold body with a puffy white head. Very very clear with a lot of fast moving bubbles.

Very balanced nose with a good bready, grainy overtone. Some light fruit scent as well.

Taste is well balanced as well. Really crisp. Hops and Malts are not dull at all, they really compliment each other well. Fruit and floral on the back end with a good tasty finish.

It would be evident if there were something amiss here, and there isn't. This is a really good beer for a day at the bar, a tailgate, or at home. Really refreshing and tasty. (594 characters)

Pours a nice (duh) gold with a decent haed that is inviting. Smell suggest a sweet maltiness. Taste is mainly malty, light, with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Mouthfeel is light, refreshing. Vey easy on the drinkability scale due to its lightness and low abv. (265 characters)

Poured from a 12oz bottle. Got this in a package from ppoitras...thanks for everything Pete!

A- Pours a clear golden straw color. One finger white head that dies down pretty quickly. Spotty lacing on the sides of the glass.

S- There is some light grainy smell to this beer. Almost a light wheaty smell to this as well. Malts come in along with some light hops. The smell is muted a lot I think in the beer. Nothing bad but wish there was a little more in the aroma.

T- There is a light grainy taste to this. Some bigger bready malts in this. Light bitter hop in the tail end of this. Nothing over the top but very well made in the flavors.

M- Light mouthfeel. Carbonation good for the style. Clean tasting while this has some light crispness to the flavor. Some light bready flavors left on the palate. Some light bitterness left in the aftertaste.

D- This was a crazy drinkable beer. I had no problem drinking this all in a short time as well. This beer is really easy to drink and with a lower ABV this means I could drink this all night. (1,047 characters)

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped: IKG-G5731712. Sampled on November 18, 2012.

It pours straw yellow with about two inches of foamy, white head that eventually dissolves but never goes away.

The aroma is of pale malts and grain with a basic clean, crisp hop chaser.

The body is light and smooth.

The taste really reminds me of a German Pilsener with a slight hop bite with low bitterness lingering at the end. Easy to drink but nothing out of the ordinary. Still, a good one to have on a hot day. (502 characters)

A 12 oz bottle from Julio's.

A: Golden bright, the ale is rather clear, a pale straw. A small white head, no more than half a finger, quickly dissapated.

S: Biscuity and light, the blonde ale has a mild fruitiness running through it.

T: Mmmm. An assertive hoppiness, herbal, springs up immediately. The mild bitterness nicely segues into the biscuity malt. The biscuit is bready and lightly toasted. More herbal hops near the finish along with a powdery chemical flavor. Mild fruitiness accompanies all of this. Quite quaffable.

M: The mouthfeel is clean, fruity with just enough toast and hops. The powdery flavors are out of place.

D: A good blonde ale. It's always nice when a ho-hum style impresses. On the plus side, the ale has moderate alcohol as well. (765 characters)

Had on tap at the Moan and Dove. The drink settled with a murky, pale gold appearance with some good lacing. The aromas were predominately hoppy with some bready florals as well. The taste was generally bittersweet with that doughy floral flavoring prevalent again. Decent carbonation made the drink enjoyable throughout the evening. Overall, a good blonde. (357 characters)
