Clear golden body. Small white head that leaves a cap on the beer.

Slight grassy floral hop aroma and some bready malt. Almost sense a slight butteryness.

Light, refreshing taste. Subtle hopping, bready malts, crisp finish. Floral hop flavor similar to very diluted rose water. Moderate carbonation.

This is my favorite anytime beer. Great for BBQs and parties. I love that I can share it with the BMC crowd and not be called a wuss.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle, bottled 4/28/10

A - Pours a pale straw gold with a vigorous three inches of foamy white head that threatens to spill over the top of my glass. Lots of visible carbonation with chunks of sediment being floated up and down

S - Nose of light fruity esters with some banana and clove, a bready/yeasty malt quality, and just a hint of hop

T&M - Crisp and lighter bodied with lively carbonation. Somewhat dry in the feel with some clove and bready notes. Light, grape-like fruit flavors with a dry, clean finish.

D - Crsip, clean and refreshing. Lot's of flavor for such a low ABV; I can certainly see taking a few down.

Bottle poured into a Sam Adams perfect pint. Beautiful, clear gold body with a puffy white head. Very very clear with a lot of fast moving bubbles.

Very balanced nose with a good bready, grainy overtone. Some light fruit scent as well.

Taste is well balanced as well. Really crisp. Hops and Malts are not dull at all, they really compliment each other well. Fruit and floral on the back end with a good tasty finish.

It would be evident if there were something amiss here, and there isn't. This is a really good beer for a day at the bar, a tailgate, or at home. Really refreshing and tasty.

12oz bottle purchased as part of a mixed 6 from Yankee Spirits, Sturbridge, MA.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 3/4" eggshell head over the clear dark golden brew. Head fades gradually, with good lacing. Aroma is pale sweetness coupled with lightly citrus hops. Taste stays the course, with light grains and balancing hops. Mouthfeel is soft over the tongue, and drinkability is excellent. Nice one!

A big thanks goes out to the guys at Mayflower Brewing Co for hooking us up with lots of free beer at BCTC last weekend!

12oz bottle

A well designed label graces the bottle of Mayflower's Golden Ale. The brew pours a transparent yellow/brownish color with some visible carbonation and a small white head that lays thin and screen-like atop the beer. Nice balanced nose of fruity hops and nutty malts. The beer has a bold malt backbone even though the bright hop character is mostly dominant. The body is semi-coating and there seems to be the slightest flare of alcohol heat... which is odd for the low ABV of the brew. It has a light body and sparkling carbonation and is extremely drinkable. Would definitely drink again!

Special thanks to Chris at Bella Vista in Philly for sharing this rarity in these parts.

Beer pours a very fluid golden clear into a thick Cantillon glass. A very airy, frothy 2-finger white head settles into an almost nonexistent cap for the rest of the drink. No lacing. It's clear this beer is well attenuated and crisp.

The aroma is light and crisp with a strong aroma of malty biscuit flavors. Light hop bitterness to keep the aroma crisp and refreshing.

Taste is refreshing and light. Flavor is full of malt flavor but with very little if any sweetness. Light fruit notes come through in the middle and then subtle bitterness follows through toward the finish.

Mouthfeel is clean, crisp and refreshing. Strong carbonation moves thr beer fluidly throughout the mouth and makes for an even more quenching drink.

Nice. Definitely a nice session beer on a hot summer day. Will look for this one in the future.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #36 (Jan 2010):

Bright, shiny golden color, actively bubbly with a head to show for it. A mild spicy, fruity, minty edge of hop aroma meets a light biscuity grain for a pleasing nose. It might have a lighter body, which is fine for the style, but the malt goes above and beyond, at least up front. Dry with a big biscuity tone. Hops jump in the balance with a spicy herbal flavor and slightly sharp bitterness. A hint of shortbread and herbal hop in the dry finish.

Style-wise, Mayflower amped it up enough to bring it from potentially mundane to a killer session ale.

The beer pours a pale gold color with a thick frothy white head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a light, pale malt scent wit low hops and a clean finish; not much else to say. The taste is good. It has a crisp and somewhat grainy pale malt flavor that goes down easy and finishes clean with little hop character. I definitely not a complex beer, but it's a damn drinkable one with no flaws. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a low bodied beer with good carbonation. This is a smooth, quaffable, session ale. Well done.
