Though this beer is labeled a rye, the wheat characteristics really stand out much more prominently. It pours a very pale, hazy, yellow with a modest, quickly fading head. The nose is reminiscent of American wheat beers: lots of fresh wheat aromas mixed with a slight yeasty spiciness.

The beer has a good balance between a slight hoppy bitterness and the wheat profile. While there is certainly rye mixed in as well, it seems to take more of a back seat. There is a slight citrus sweetness to the beer as well, which really helps this beer go down quite quickly.

A very well made, very drinkable, and very refreshing summer ale.

I was able to have the opportunity to go to the Mayflower Brewing Company's Tasting room today and tasted some of there beers and this one stood out to me as something unique. I had it on tap in a 7 oz taster and then purchased a growler to share with my family when I got home.
Appearance: pale cloudy yellow estimated SRM of 1.25-1.5. the unfiltered beer resembles a nice unfiltered wheat beer
Smell: slight tart/sour smell right off the back can pull a noise of the rye and then the dwindling of american wheat malts.
Taste: slightly tart and sour from the rye malts and a hint of wheat malt sourness and slight sweetness of the pilsner base malts.
Mouthfeel: a wonderful crisp dry light body summer session ale

Overall: Overall I am really impressed with this beer as an all around summer session ale that is light bodied, crisp and slightly sour mouthfeel makes a beer that is worth bringing to your next cook out or gathering to share with all or just for yourself and significant other at the beach. If you are looking for an alternative to your usual summer wheat beer you should check this one out if you get the opportunity to get your hands on some.

Poured an attractive light lemon color in a tulip with a 2F head.

Aroma: lemon, some funk.

Mouth feel: Very carbonated. This enhances of the drinkability of the beer.

Taste: lemon and and a hint of rye.

Finish: excellent hoppy bitterness.

Overall: an refreshing summer ale. The carbonation and hoppy finish bolster the overall taste. It's a low ABV beer, but it has a lot of character.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip.

Appearance: Pours a really pale straw with heavy carbonation and a half inch white head that sticks around a bit. Lacing minimal. Awfully pale but still attractive.

Aroma: Smells of rye bread, hops, wheatiness, spice, lemon and citrus. Nice combination of aromas.

Taste: Tasty stuff. Taste follows the nose, with rye and lemon leading the way. Very drinkable and quaffable.

Mouthfeel: Sessionable and light of body. Great spring/summer type beer.

Overall: This is great stuff in my opinion. Definitely stands out from the deluge of goldens and wheat ales that hit the market for summer. Refreshing and delicious.
