Our 1st single hop beer. The malt bill is 100% Golden Promise, a traditional pale malt grown in Scotland. Blurring the lines of an American Pale Ale and and American IPA, this beer is generously hopped with Styrian Aurora hops grown in Slovenia. Moderately bitter and very aromatic, the spiceness of these hops shines through a clean malt profile.

Straw yellow and hazy with a bright white, fine soapy cap. Good head retention with clumpy lacing. Lemony and earthy aroma, spicy hops, herbal and fruity, with mild malt and grain notes. Balanced flavour, mild malt up front with delicate lemon/herbal hops, followed by solid bitterness and mild hop spice. Slight caramel and lemon in the finish. Soft carbonation, medium bodied, good texture. I quite enjoyed this beer.

Poured from a 22oz bottle into a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a very light gold color, with a short foamy white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains floral hops, fruity citrus and caramelized malts.

T: The taste starts out a strong burst of grassy hops bitterness. Then some fruity citrus sweetness quickly follows. The malt character is a bit on the thin side for the style but it works well for this particular beer and provides a good balance. The after-taste is slightly hoppy and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, mild kick, good representation of style, this is a very nice lighter but still very flavorful APA to drink for a long time.

Poured into a tulip glass from a 22 oz bottle.

A: Nice hazy orange with good head, retention, and lacing.

S: Pleasant citrusy and grassy hop aroma.

T: Moderate malt flavor balanced against the hop bitterness along with a presence of alcohol. The bitterness lingers in the back of the mouth.

Overall: A very decent pale ale with a nice unique aroma and flavor. A pleasing ale.

16.6 oz bottle. June 2013 batch.
Poured into a SA fluted glass.
Pours a cloudy golden amber color with a medium-sized fluffy off white head.
The smells are surprisingly varied for a single hop. Fresh cut hay, citrus, wild flowers, fruit cup, bread dough with a light whiff of gin all roll together.
Flavors are hop forward with tastes of soft citrus, peppery spice and a hint of pineapple. The sweet malt backbone holds together throughout. As in the aroma, a light taste of gin sneaks in the finish.
This is a very well-rounded brew. The slick, silky liquid is really easy to gulp...almost too easy.

Pour is a nice hazy, glowing golden orange straw color. No real head to speak of.

Nose is pretty soft, hints of grass, straw, lemon, sweet corn.

Taste is pleasant and soft. Bit of malt up front with some nice wheat and grain flavors. Followed by a pretty mild but nice hop. Some hints of honey, lemon, orange, melon.

Feel is pretty medium. Good malt backbone.

A nice representation of the hop. Not my favorite APA ever, but not bad in any way. Fun to try out, but probably not going to get again.
