First had: on tap at the Pigeon Forge brewpub
Dark brown pour, reddish hue at the edges, with a small cap of beige head; minimal retention and lacing. Basic aroma of roasty dark malts and not a whole lot else. Timid on the palate, roasty dark malts, toasted grains, maybe some light coffee ground flavors, but really nothing memorable here. Light-medium body. Not much else to say but: meh.

Tons of sediment in botlle, strong pour produced almost 2 fingers of fine, creamy tan head. That dissipated to an even film atop an almost opaque deep brown with maroon-ruby hues. Seems to have no turbidity and produces some lacing.
Nice nose is not strong but present and pleasant with chocolate and roasty malt aromas and an herbal hop aroma. Sweet Caramel aroma as it warms.
The taste is not unpleasant but a little unbalanced and one note. There is great smokey-peatiness to the taste, however it is a little unbalanced by either a malty or hoppy taste. It lacks a unifying malt taste leading from the start into the finish.
The mouthfeel is watery, but that is understandable, as it seems to lack in malt.
The drinkability is low due to taste and moutfeel issues.

I like the little bat logo on this one.
It's dark brown, slightly translucent. Small brown head. Not as dark as I'd like to see, but still nice, and easily the high point of this beer. Gentle roasty malts on the nose. One-noted, as most SMB beers seem to be.
Boring taste - dry malts and nothing else.
Average mouthfeel and drinkability.

A - A very dark reddish brown. A tan head with nice retention.
S - Lots of roast. Roasted malt, roasted nuts, and a bit of toffy. It smells pretty tasty.
T/M - Medium light bodied and rather smooth. All of that roast from the aroma is there but it's rather one-dimensional. The first noticeable flavor is the roasted malt, with an almost roasted peanut quality in the mix. The finish has a hoppy bitterness bite toward the end but not much in the way of hop flavor.
D - A pretty easy drinking brew and definitely worth the purchase. Maybe not worth keeping on hand all the time but I could see myself ordering another in the near future.

My wife ordered this on tap at the Pigeon Forge location while we were there, I tried hers, but my mere small sample didn't do the beer justice. Therefore, I grabbed a bottle on the way out.
A: I saw some red leaking out around the side, but overall this was Tootsie Roll brown, with a few floating bubbles posing as a head.
S: faint hints of coffee and chocolate malt. Good so far.
T: This was much tastier than the one I had on tap in the restaurant. Nice coffee flavor, with some roasted malt in there as well. Nothing complex, but not watery.
M: Compared to the big dogs, this might seem watered down. However, it worked for me on a hot day in a fantastic atmosphere! Lots of lacing,
O: Nobody has reviewed this one on here for a while, so I thought I would take a stab at it. I disagree with the extremely negative reviews. It worked for me on this occasion, but again, I was on vacation! :)
