The rankings are really difficult to apply to Cornells because its not your typical homebrew supply store.
First off, its in the basement of a True Value hardware store. There is nobody in particular that mans this area nor is there anyone (that I've ever found) to assist you in finding anything or answer questions. (This was particularly inconvenient as a novice homebrewer.) This also means that if you're purchasing grains, there ain't no one there to crack it for you.
On the flip side, the prices are excellent. I.E. Brew buckets for about $8.00. While they may not carry a whole lot of stock, the selection is decent and the quality is good- I've never ended up with bad supplies. Not to mention that this is the only homebrew shop in Westchester.

While this place is not perfect, it has two things going for it. It is the only place in westchester to get brewing supplies and the prices are great.
They have a nice selection of extract supplies, both liquid and powdered and a good stock of specialty malts for partial mash brewing.
The all grain selection has recently improved. They have bags of ten pound 2 row, and 1 pound bags of specialy malts that you can buy and grind in the store. You have to buy the whole 10lb or 1lb bag, which kind of stinks, but you can just save the extra or use it all.
The hops and yeast selection is not bad and they have loads of brewing accessories, cleansers, sanitizers. And they have a good supply of bottles, brewing kettles, and even Blichmann equipment.
The prices are pretty great, especially on carboys, etc.
Service is a bit tough. I think it is the owner who is into homebrewing and if he is not there you are kind of out of luck.
While I do not get grain here for my al grain brews, I do go here for just about everything else.

I had high hopes for this store considering I see it published in the back of multiple brewing publications. I could not have been more disappointed. I agree that it is hard to rate as a brew shop because it is a dark corner in the basement of a hardware store. It was kind of in a dim neglected part of the store. Not welcoming at all. They were a very tiny store and didn't have much to offer. Def. not a good place if you are interested in all grain as it seemed they only had a lot of extracts. I stood around looking at things for about 5 minutes and the staff, who noticed me didn't even acknowledge I was there. This place was a crushing disappointment and it is a shame that because they are in beer publications that people might over look other quality shops and have this place as their impression of a home brew supply store. I would love to see them expend some time and effort into making this a great home brew supply, which it could be, but I don't see that happening. I put the value as reasonable but to be honest I don't remember looking at prices because nothing in there was worth buying.
