holy shit this place was great. you'd never know what a great selection of beers they have by the looks of it. seems like just another hip place in ukranian village but a peerless selection of beers awaits. focus is entirely on north american craft brews. about 10 taps and an absolute shitload of selections via bottle. decor is modern/hip/whatever with many of the bottle selections displayed behind the bar. the beer menu itself is very well done. each beer was quite accurately described in detail, and there were also ratings and other info listed on each beer. all the beers were nicely categorized by style as well. i can't say enough about the selection, both in it's vastness and quality. it seems as if everything here is here for a reason; they don't have a shitload of beers JUST to have a shitload of beers. and not a single crap beer to be seen. the bartender was very knowledgeable and helpful. prices are not too bad considering the neighborhood and what you'd pay for shit beer around here. as for what they have, too much to mention, but just about every good U.S. craft beer that is available in illinos. my only criticism is that they could use some more varied glassware, mostly they have only standard pint glasses and a few goblets/tulips upon request.

Went on a Saturday afternoon (around 2PM) with a buddy from the neighborhood.

Atmosphere: Not full, but not empty either- was able to get seating immediately. Overall, very nice ambience, well-lit and the decor is very classy yet not over the top. (4.5)

Quality: Well-done, well-run, well-lit and not too noisy at all. Easy to have a nice conversation and the bartender (we sat in the bar area) was very friendly and it was easy to strike up conversation with him. (4.5)

Service: Fantastic. The bartender was great with the recommendations- since it was early afternoon, we wanted the refreshing, sessionable stuff. He did not steer us wrong, and checked on us frequently. The food did take a bit of time to get out to us, but we barely noticed. (5)

Selection: Very good beer selection for sure. Lots of interesting options on tap that fit the bill. The best part is being able to buy 6oz pours for $2.50 (with a full glass being $4-7 depending on the beer). It's actually more cost effective and makes it a lot of fun to try all kinds of different stuff, especially the lesser known local stuff (Ale Syndicate, etc.) without committing to full pours. (4.5)

Food: Awesome, I got the Ansel A sandwich which is basically a fried chicken sandwich with avocado, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, chipotle sauce. Fantastic sandwich that also came with our two sides of peanut pasta and chips. The peanut pasta is excellent, wish they would serve them in larger quantities! (4.75)

Two people and 6 different flights of beers a person plus lunch for each came out to $60 total. Not bad, certainly reasonable. Basically a sandwich and 3 beers for $30 a person. Not the best but definitely reasonable for Chicago.

Great place for booze and food. The atmosphere is warm and cozy; conducive to a fantastic beer and food pairing evening. I really enjoyed the large food menu, with their fantastic options of salads, sandwiches and appetizers, I don't think there is a beer in the house that wouldn't match up with anything on there. Service was good, and the beers I ordered, Dreadnaught and Plead the 5th, were poured in the appropriate sized glass. The beer menu is great and extensive, covering a significant portion of the beer landscape. They also have a fantastic rotating tap selection to choose from on draft. Stop by for good beer and food, you wont be disappointed. Try their hummus appetizer platter, comes with fried pita, it's very good.

Came here with my girl for lunch and drinks in July 2011.

VIBE: we sat on the patio, which had a nice view of the streetscape. Generous spacing between tables offered some privacy for patrons. Crowd was kinda yuppyish (lots of people tapping away on their smart phones), but thankfully they kept to themselves.

SERVICE: our server was righteous with a big chip on his shoulder. He failed to explain that you HAVE to order side dishes with your sandwich, and neglected to say where those sides were located on the menu. He did a decent job of describing the hoppy beers on tap and made great food recommendations; however, when I was paying our bill, he "forgot" to bring the change back to the table, so I decided not to leave a tip.

SELECTION: the draught lineup was one of the best that I encountered in Chicago. Ridiculous taps such as Firestone Walker Red Nectar, Port Mongo Double IPA, Bruery Orchard Wit, Goose Island Fleur, and Rogue John John Dead Guy cluttered the menu. Bottle list included top notch offerings from Anderson Valley, Half Acre, and Left Hand, as well as most of the world class American IPAs. I ordered a 3Floyds Alpha King Pale Ale, which I hadn't tried before coming here. My girlfriend really enjoyed her cocktail.

FOOD: I had the Cuban with barbecue beans and mac & cheese while the lady went for a Grilled Chicken Caesar. The sandwiches and sides were outrageously good (not to mention filling!) and the prices were fair.

OVERALL: it's unfortunate that our waiter was so careless since I would've otherwise rated this place an "A." Jerry's is a prime destination for it's tasty food and excellent craft beer, but the service could definitely improve.

Stopped here with my girlfriend and another friend during CCBW to get a bottle cap and try some food. The list of beer was above average, but the food was high quality. I ordered a Reuben and my friend had the onion rings. There was plenty of food and it all tasted great.

They do not take Amex, but other forms of payment are accepted. We went during the after-lunch rush and it was not busy, but the service was slower than I would have liked. The servers and staff were polite. I would go back if I were in the area and would recommend stopping here before going to the Map Room.

Came here for plenty of lunches when I used to work in the city. This place was the best food and craft beer place that I had found in the limited range I could go during my lunches. I found that the atmosphere was a little congested, the place isn't very big, but not too many places in the city really are. It look very clean and well kept with some rather nice modern decor. Everything about this place appeared in order and was quality. I found that I got exactly what I expected from this place. The service was decent. I don't think they were super attentive or really all that knowledgeable about the beers. But I always got my food in reasonable amount of time and my orders were always correct and they seemed rather personable, so there wasn't much to complain about in that regard. The beer selection was pretty darn good. They had beers which were easily distributed to the area, but that you would never really see on-tap at the vast majority of bars. For example they would have GI Green Line, and Bear Republic Racer 5 on-tap. They also celebrated CCBW every year with a specialty expanded tap listing. The food was excellent. They had some of the best damn sandwiches that you could ever find. Screw the beer sometimes, I went for the amazing sandwiches.

Jerry's is one of the reasons I miss living in Wicker Park. Great sandwiches, although I have a tough time moving past the Dieterich - who can resist steak, blackened chicken, avocado, aged white cheddar, mayo, and adobo sauce? During the summer, the gazpacho is great too.

The atmosphere is relaxed and more suitable for lunch than dinner, in my mind. Although any time can be a great time to grab a couple of beers and relax though. The service reflects this mentality, however, and most of the time the waitstaff seems to be absent.

The beer list has always been a strong point and seems to be getting even better. They have Founders Cherry Newaygo and Bell's Hopslam on tap right now and their tap list is always changing. Their bottle list is pretty huge - I think it has gotten to 200 different bottles, although they have a few that seem overpriced.

Overall, the sandwiches are great, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the beer list is better than solid. They charge premium prices, but they definitely deliver a premium product.
