Shakespeare's is an excellent pub to have a nice drink, meal, or conversation at in Sarasota. They have a beer list of around 100 beers on bottle, and a nice little selection on Draft (7-9 draft lines). They also host guest Drafts and guest Bottles, ranging from local flare like Cigar City, to just new drafts in the area like Heavy Seas Loose Cannon. Most the Craft beer is on bottle, but they have one or two on draft to go with all the other staple pub ales like Guiness, Bass, Smithwicks, etc.

The food is really what keeps me coming back however. Their burgers are fantastic, and they are arguably one of the Top 2 places in town for Fish and Chips.

There is a pool table, and a dart board as well.

All in all, I always a have a good time when I come in for a bite to eat, or a drink to drink!

Stopped in on a friend's recommendation. Had been here years ago and was not impressed. What difference a few years makes.
The atmosphere was unchanged, comfortable and relaxed. Service was friendly and attentive, very helpful.
Food was good, hot and very tasty. Selection is more than just typical pub type fare with some nice upgrades from the norm.
Beer selection is very nice. Not the best in town but easily second or third from what I've seen. Way better than all but two places in the area. Well worth stopping by. In excess of 100 different beers available.

While dining at the place while staying in Siesta Key, I would suggest anyone to stop by. I immediately started a World Beer Tour Card to punch off all 80 of their beers some day.
It was a very low key place with friendly people all around. It is a bit dark, but what do you expect for an English Pub.
There was a great bartender working who was able to share her knowledge of beer with me as I took interest in beers from the East Coast breweries.
On tap was the usual English/Irish Ales and the Guest tap was the Dogfish Head Chicory Stout. There was a great selection of bottles (over 50), so I decided to get a to go 4 pack of Well's Banana Bread Beer.
I imagine the food was excellent because I had the Chips and Beer Cheese appetizer and it kicked ass! It is extremely big so bring friends to help you finish.
Overall, I only had 1 beer and an appetizer and my tab was already $15, so bring extra money if you want to try to become an honorary member of their Beer Club Hall of Fame!

We go this place a lot. It's a true pub in the sense that it is more family oriented than a regular bar. It's British owned and the food is great. The beer cheese dip, cottage pie and the onion & brie burger are my favorites. They also have wonderful daily specials.

The regular Brit beers are on draft with a couple of rotating taps and a "guest brew".They have a beer list of of over 100 bottles on every table broken down by country as well.

This place is always packed with great people and the service is quick and friendly. A must stop when in town.

I stopped in for a visit while in Sarasota with my family. Shakespeare's Pub is a nice little English style pub by the beach. It's got a large U shaped bar and a British feel (albeit a bit contrived). They also have plenty of tables including some outdoor seating out front. There are several TVs and a pool table in the back. The decor includes beer signs / mirrors and a collection of horse brass.

They had about 12 on tap which consisted mostly of the typical British / Irish pub offerings: Bass, Harp, Guinness, Smithwicks, etc. I went with a Erdinger Hefe-Weiss which was served in a half liter Pilsner glass with their logo. The bartender was outgoing and helpful. I believe they had bottles as well which seemed to include Belgians and British beers.

The menu looked great although I didn't eat. It included the usual British fare (which I like) along with burgers, sandwiches and some local fish specials.

Shakespeare's is a nice little place for a pint and unfortunately about as good as it gets for the area.

I can't believe that I'm the first one to review this place! C'mon Sarasota... you need to check this place out! GREAT selection of beers and food here. Traditional English fare for food.

The atmosphere is lots of nice dark wood paneling, upscale.... very nice. Quality of everything was great. Service was prompt and courteous and always with a smile.

The food was great too and a very good value. I had a terrific Roast Beef and Mushroom pot pie and it was very tasty.

Several beers on tap and there must've been 80 bottled beers... mostly imports. From Belgians to Africa!

You owe it to yourself to check this place out!
