First of all, the food at Mad Mex is absolutely outstanding. Their burritos top the charts for me. They have a lot of good beer. Avery, Penn, Victory, Stone, Flying Dog, Sierra Nevada, Bell's, Troeg's...just to name a few. About 1/3 of their selection is available on tap and you can get growlers to go. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Mounds of tap beer and bottled beer from different regions of the country. A terrific place to wine and dine, or just stop in, have a brew or two, or get one or two to go!

Stopped in for happy hour. The place was really busy. 25+ beers on tap, which includes several BMC but for the most part, they are craft beers. Avery, Founders, DFH, Great Lakes, Troegs, Rogue, Laguintas, Stone, Sierra Nevade...etc. I had the Christmas Ale on tap.
Service was a little on the slow side, but only due to the crowd. As I have seen with a lot of places, the bars are just not properly staffed at busy times.
A nice happy hour spot. The selection will not blow you away, but they do have plenty to try.

Nice atomshpere but is a little small, they have an outside place which is covered which is a little more spread out than the inside part. The bar is right in the middle with tables around it. On tap they have a nice selection usually they have eight to ten taps. The taps are from the usual places, southern tier, great lakes, and the like. The also have a nice bottle selection and u can carry out beer. The food is good, its your standard mexican fare. The waitresses and bartenders are good on time but not the most knowledgeable about beer. The price is a bit pricey but not crazy. A solid place to eat and grab a good beer or two.

this place rocks! has 4 50 inch plasma tv's around bar. very cool decor. quaint but big at the same time. great selection of drafts. have had many hard to find brews here including: green flash imp IPA, double bastard, great lakes blackout stout, nuggett nectar, stone ruination, new holland dragon's milk, nosferatu. service is good and most bartenders are familiar with the beers they pour. happy hour is great! half off drafts and wings which are solid. my fav dish is the madmex chik burrito with whole wheat tortilla, double meat and pineapple habenero salsa!!!

Located minutes from I79, north of Pittsburgh, this mad max is worth a stop for happy hour or when in need of a few good pints while in cranberry.
For me this stop is all about happy hour. From 5-7 all drafts are 1/2 off! The selection is the best in the area. In the past few months I've sampled, Oaked Arrogant bastard, BORIS, Hop Wallup, Hercules, Double Bastard, Stone XL anniversary, Avery salvation, Avery 11 anniversary, for $3 bucks a pint or less (during happy hour), to name only a few. The taps rotate regularly and the manager really is a beer lover. He is always walking around delivery drafts and talking beer with the beer savvy customers. It does get a bit pricey for bombers and drafts during regular hours. Bombers are going to run about $15 a pop, and big beers over $6 a pint.
The food is mexican and the Big Burrito group does it well.
Pretty sure they no longer fill happy hour priced growlers, so don't hold me to that below
Now filling growlers for the price of 4 drafts. Well worth it at happy hour, a growler of Hercules for $12, not too shabby.
A must stop for beer lovers who work in the area, or if you happen to be in need of a quality brew in the Cranberry area.

After hanging out at Hereford & Hops for awhile we headed over to meet a group of people for some more drinks over at Mad Mex, which is about 5-10 minutes away. I'd been here before but never actually looked at there beer list. It pretty darn good! About 20 or 25 quality brews on-tap and 40 or 50 in bottles. Plus any place that has Hoppin' Frog's B.O.R.I.S. the Crusher on-tap and in the bottle can't be too bad. A really nice selection too. 25 on-tap doesn't mean that 10 of them are various macros, pretty much the entire selection was really good. I was impressed. The quality of everything I had seemed good, it seems they have a relatively quick turnover which is very important for a place with a good bottle list. The atmosphere is some sort of neo-alternative southwestern theme. Kind of interesting and very different but a bit obnoxious after a while. Dimly lit and heavily decorated with lots of neon lighting and odd illuminated signage, nicknack's, etc. Primarily a young crowd drinking large multi-colored margaritas; certainly not my type of place at first glance, but that just goes to show that you can't judge a beer bar by its flashing and slightly annoying decoration, .... I think thats how the saying goes. Anyway the bartender was helpful and friendly but I haven't eaten there besides chips and salsa (good salsa). My only issue with the place, besides the slightly obnoxious decor, is that the bottle mark ups were kind of stiff. I had a bottle of the B.O.R.I.S. which usually retails for somewhere around $7-$9 and I paid $15 plus a $2 tip. Kind of pricey, and a friend ordered a Belgian on-tap (a big one, I forget what it was) and it was $8.50 without tip. Some of the brews can get expensive but there is no substitute for a good selection. I enjoyed my visit and had some good brews with friends. Definitely check it out if your in the area. Theres a lot of hotels for business traveler off the turnpike nearby so its certainly a good beer refuge for folks out of town.
