Poured a half inch creamy white head that dissipated into a thin film of foam with scattered lacing. Appearance is a cloudy gold-copper.

Aroma was a fresh fruity hop smell, which caused me to anticipate a citrus flavor, but I got mostly pine and herbal. Unlike the other reviewers, I didn't notice much malt at all. Mouthfeel was good, nice carbonation and a solid body.

Overall, a decent IPA which I certainly wouldn't turn down if offered and probably would order on tap, but doesn't really stand above the crowd and didn't make me want to put it on my shopping list.

Poured from the can into a nonic a hazed orange infused golden with a large fluffy white that left broken chunks of lace as it settled slowly into a frothy mass. Some grassy herbal hops along with a mild tropical fruit note but the hops are somewhat dull with some biscuit malt notes thrown in as well. The palate starts out good with a shot of grassy and tropical fruit notes but there is an ubrupt ending to the hops with a lightly sweet biscuit finish.Eh it's close to being really good but it doesn't stand up to many other NC brewed IPA's.

Medium sized off white to light tan head settles into a nice lacing above a clearish thick honey golden colored beer.

Light floral and citrus hops aroma with some underlying grain malts making their presence known.

Light floral and citrus hops taste with some underlying grain malts rounding out the taste that is very similar to the aroma of this beer.

A very light dry aftertaste with some hops presence on this medium bodied beer.

This is an alright IPA but seems to be lacking or just a little lighter on the hops than I would have liked.

Dark orange in the body and a little lighter on the edges, this good-looking IPA has a consistent cloudiness to it. It grows a large head, a little bit off-white, that settles down to a good height, almost a finger and a half. That settles further to a heavy foam, and it's strong enough to leave a good, thick ring of lacing at the top of the glass and to follow that with strong patching and legging in good quantity and consistency.
The aroma is more toast and sourdough bread than anything, a bit herbal with a touch of pine but not hop-forward. There's just lots of biscuit with a bit of citrus and some caramel sweetness. It smells very yeasty.
The hops are brought out more strongly in the flavor as mostly pine and citrus notes. Biscuit is still strong, and there's an extremely interesting solvent-like note with a hint of lemon to it. It almost has a woody thing in whatever the perfumy thing is that's going on here.
The feel is nice, fairly light but just managing medium in body with a good creaminess remaining constant and a light crispness that keeps it from going flat. It thins out a hair heading into the finish, also adding a little dryness.
This makes for a good session beer, but I wouldn't reach for it as something to get my hop fix from by any means.

On tap at the brewery

Pours golden with decent head. Smells of fruit and Belgian yeast. The yeast throws me off a bit, but it seems that many TBC offerings have the same Belgian yeast profile in the nose. Taste is Belgian yeast, bitter hops, and hints of a sweetness I can't put my finger on. Well carbonated, this beer is crisp. Overall, not excited about this one. Between the Belgian yeast and the hop profile, I'm left wanting something else.

Recently purchased in the can, six-pack form. Maybe on the lighter side for an America IPA coming in at 5.7% although the beer maintains lots of flavor and fantastic appearence.

Pours cloudy with lots of lacing. Darkish orange color and cloudy! Mouthfeel is heavy and definitely full body. Carbonation level I think is on the high side, but nothing crazy. Excellent lacing.

Smell is of juicy hops, I get a lot of citrusy smells from the beer.

Hops are definitely present in the smell and the taste, and also has a good malt backbone. The hops are forward, but the beer has a good balance.

Overall I give this beer a solid score and will definitely be purchasing this one on a regular basis. ONe of the better sessionable IPA's around

On tap at the brewery.

Slightly hazy golden in color with a nice lasting white head and some lacing.

Big tropical fruit aroma with pineapple and definite Belgian yeast. A Belgium IPA? Could be.

Same on the flavor, pale malt, Belgian yeast, pineapple and citrus, light floral note, and spiciness.

Medium-bodied with a good level of carbonation and decent smoothness.

Pretty good, but I'm thinking some Belgian yeast got into this one. INFECTED!!! Just kidding.

Served on tap at Vintage Fine Wines in Terminal 2 of RDU. Standard shaker pint glass.

Pours a light to medium amber, with good foaming. Lacing waves. Smell is an earthy, pine grassy smell. Pleasing. Taste is smmoth and straight - good balance between sweet maltiness and bitter hop. The bittering is noted but not controlling. Smooth mouthfeel.

Easy drinking IPA - flavorful, tasty, an overall very good beer.

P- Thanks to my buddy Trask for this brew

A- An orange color with amber highlights. Frothy 3 finger head that overlfows the pint and leaves a decent lacing.

S- floral and citrus hops dominate. i do get some malt on the back end of the nose.

F- citrus and floral hops hit the palate strong. i dont gather the malts until halfway through the brew.

M- light bodied beer with a nice hop feel in the mouth.

O- a decent IPA. it soothes you on a nice summer day but still leaves more to be desired.

Citrusy-fresh : the keg had a date five days before my taste, and the freshness shown through. Crisp, citrus, hoppy, really just a great IPA. I was very pleasantly surprised after having the Triangle Belgian, ( which was a blah C beer ). I would guess about 7%ABV from the taste. Highly recommended IPA....

Pours a deep orange-amber with swirls of yeast sediment and thick, fluffy head that leaves some chunky lace on the glass. Moderate hoppy aroma...some juicy citrus but more floral and grassy than anything else. Flavor is hoppy, but like the aroma, I'm having a tough time explaining it any further. Some of the Simcoe comes through as do more floral and spicy hops. Soapiness and some yeast. Medium bodied and fairly bitter. Meh...

The beer looked great when I poured it into my glass. Nice golden to orange color, with a nice white head. I was a little disapointed by the aroma how ever. I usually expect an in your face hop aroma in an american IPA. It had a decent aroma but compared to other IPAs it didnt live up to expectations. hop bitterness was ok, but more herbal than piney or citrucy. Just not what I expected I guess.

Straight pour from 12oz can to an oversized wineglass, no freshness dating on the can.

Appearance (4.0): Pretty aggressive head on this one, easily rising to about three fingers and taking its damn sweet time collapsing to a fat, lumpy cap floating on top of the body. The body is a rather murky orange-amber color. A few globs of lace stick around.

Smell (4.0): Some sweet citrus, same dank resinous character, and a spicy, somewhat vegetal character that intrigues me. Some definitely spicy hops are in here. The malt body comes off as relatively muted and definitely biscuity.

Taste (4.0): Those spicy, moderately vegetal hops come along here, contributing a lot to the flavor but the bitterness is almost an afterthought here, only really coming out in the finish—which is actually surprisingly long. That bitterness is part citrus pith, part herbal, and definitely tasty, but the hop FLAVOR is unexpectedly spicy and earthy. Kind of dig it, definitely a change of pace. The malt body, meanwhile, hangs out in back, kind of waving “hi” to you from across the room with a biscuit in its hand. There is a discernible yeast note here, too, which I enjoy—leaves a slightly chalky, earthy note in the finish.

Mouthfeel (3.5): Carbonation is average and understated, the body is just on the light side of medium, and the finish is relatively dry. The mouthfeel is doing a decent job, nothing special here.

Overall (3.5): Overally, an above-average IPA. I’d give it 3.75 for the overall score if I could, because it’s just not quite 4/5 in the scheme of things. Still, a good beer, and worth trying if you see it. Small, regional breweries and good canned offerings are both ALWAYS welcome, in my book!

I wanted to like this beer a lot. Local brewery, price was right at $.8.99 a six pack, but it it tasted more like a pilsner than an IPA. Very malty, and reminded me a lot of their white Belgian ale. Honestly, as it sits in my mouth it does not taste like an ale. It really tastes like a pilsner/lager.

Pretty sad effort since even a home brewer can make a nice hop forward IPA.

Local beer from up in Durham, where I work. Bright Kelly green can and basic design. Pours thick and chunky light brown with an opaque center. Head dies quick but leaves better than average lace and a creamy cap. Nose is faint, spicy hops.

Flavor here is balanced but a little more malt driven than I would like. Some medium pine and citrus notes but not a strong or assertive hop bomb like you sometimes find. Texture feels a little loose and watery. Finish is decent and the aftertaste satisfying. Not a bad beer, but not an elite IPA, so I probably won't be quaffing it regularly.
