The appearance was a hazy mahogany color with a slim transparency about it. Carbonation was seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than about forty seconds. The smell had a restrained cooked malts over some light spice. The taste was mainly spicy trying to bring in a slight breadiness but even that stays mainly subdued. A slight spicy aftertaste leads to a semi-dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonation seemed fine for the style and for me. Bitterness is there but not overbearing. Overall, I say this was okay for the style and for me. A part of me was hoping for a bit more fruitiness or even some Belgian sweetness, but it’s decent.

On tap at the brewpub, this was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a dark hazy burnt orange to brown color with a bar pour's kind of slim white head that escaped quickly leaving no lacing.
The smell was malty with some light bready tones.
The taste was basically the same without any sweet fruits or any spices. There's a lingering malty aftertaste.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium in body with a sessionable feel to it. Carbonation felt alright.
Overall, for a Belgian pale ale, there really isn't much going on. I'm not sure if it's because they poured this styled beer into a pint glass or just the way its brewed. I can't really see myself coming back to this.

Draft at the brewpub. Dark golden coloured body, and no head. Spicy yeastiness, but not so drinkable. Certainly inferior to their Belgian strong. What is this about? Not liking the mineral water. This water detracts from this style, whereas it helped in some of the other beers.

A: Really nice hazy golden color. Poured with a finger of white head. Some spotty lacing.
S: The malt dominated over the yeast. I really wanted some more phenolic notes out of the nose. There was a little bit and a touch of hops.
T: A really nice balanced take on the style. Again I would have liked a little bit more Belgian out of this but it was good. Not their pale ale at all. Even the malt was a little bit different. Lots of two row came through. Just a touch of hops which was nice.
M: Very light bodied. Carbonation was good.
D: I had two pints and that was a nice amount. Good for a hot summer evening. Really paired well with food.
