22 oz bottle recently acquired from Las Vegas poured into my CCB snifter at cellar temp. Bottled in September 28, 2012.
Appearance: Black with dark brown edges when held to the light. Little lacing settles to a ring around the edge of the snifter and a thin varied pattern in the middle reminiscent of a bowling ball sparkle. Leaves a little lacing as it goes.
Smell: Roasted malts a faint hint of cooked oats. Mild earthy hops.
Taste: Roasted malts with a touch of char, not too much like some RISs. I get hints of cocoa, enough to evoke crispy chocolate chip cookies. A nice semi-sweetness hovers over every flavor, ending with a mild bitterness. Very balanced.
Mouthfeel: Middling thickness and carbonation. Nothing out of the ordinary, here.
Overall: Probably my new standard for oatmeal stouts. I really enjoyed this beer and will look for more bottles. This one fires on all cylinders.
