Appearance: Nice amber color.
Smell: Nice mellow hop aroma.
Taste: Very good. Great balance of hop and malt flavor.
Mouthfeel: A strong point here... great mouthfeel...very full flavored Ale.
Drinkability: Very good. Only had a pint so I'm not sure how they would go down in large quantities but would love to find out.:) Very good Amber Ale.

Serving info: 16 ounce bottle, w/o freshness dating

Pours: orangey medium amber, with an overactive tan head. I bought a four pack of these 16 ounce bottles, each one seemed slightly over primed/bad/turned. Moderate notes of butterscotch picked up, how many signs of bad beer do you need before you either bring it back or put up the white flag?

Lacing: Minimal lacing noted

Head: overactive is never good...

Flavor notes: unfortunately this seemed to be pretty middle of the road brownish swill that also was slightly turned in the bottle, yuk and a waste of $ and calories.

Buyer beware when purchasing this stuff....

Poured at an expo for their distributor. Nothing like free beer.

Nice red color. Head is a little thin, but still an attractive beer.

The smell is a little faint, but the malts are very nice when they can be bothered to reach my nose.

The taste is very nice. The sweet malts come out nicely.

The mouthfeel is light and lively. Very nice.

This was a very refreshing beer. I would definitely have it again. Maybe at the brewery next time.

Had this on tap at the brewery as part of our 150 mile pub crawl!
Nothing prettier than a red in a 20 oz. pint glass...Aroma is a mix... malty caramel smells with a whiff of hops. I found this to have a nice if light body. The flavor hits the spot with sweet caramel followed by a light hop finish. This is a smooth one that would make a very nice session ale.

On tap at the Lost Kangaroo in Bradenton FL. A bit bland, this one, reddish orange tending toward brown. Decent lace from not much head. Candy like malts nose, similar taste. Very lightly hopped, and a bit scratchy going down. Not very smooth, and a bit watery. Always good to support the local brews, but this one is a bit disappointing.

Was not really sure what to expect out of this one, but decided I needed something semi light to enjoy while cooking dinner last night. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was consumed on 06/27/2010.

The pour was nice enough, dark amber in color and very clear with lots of carbonation apparent coming up through the glass. Coalescing into a nice small head of maybe an inch it settled down quickly and smoothly, leaving behind token lacing and a broken crown for a head.

Aroma is bready, lots of caramel and bready, musky, and grainy malts are dominating this one. Warming brings a touch of an earthy hop, but nothing crazy by any stretch. Smooth, even flavor is nice, but again nothing really sticking out that would make me come back to this one in the future anytime. Still though nice mellow malts, touches of bittering hops in the finish and an even texture that stays light and well balanced. Very drinkable and smooth, the bottle went down without a fight.

Overall it was very solid. A very nicely done and quite session able red ale. A notch above average for sure.

My first Dunedin sample. Pours a reddish brown hue with huuuge bubbles, and some lacing. Smell is hoppy, so very hoppy, citrusy and rindy. Some sweet malts and breadyness in the background. Taste is very very bready and malty with a bitter hops background that wasn't as intense as I expected. Tasty, but lacking.

Mouthfeel was the worst part of this brew- thin and watery. But there's enough froth to make it decent and not unpleasing. Overall fairly drinkable and light, but a bit too bitter and watery to have too many.

Deep amber almost clear brown color. Fizzy beige head fades pretty fast. Heavy malty, earthy smell, minimal hops. Taste was diminated by a slightly sour, malty, earthy malt taste that stuck to your tongue. After a while slight bitterness emerges. Could use more carmel malt sweetness both in smell and taste. Thin watery feel toward the end of the glass. Sour taste lingers. Not very inspiring. The least favorite of their offerings. The Rogue Amber blows it away, as some others I have had.

Re-reviewed on 3/16/03 all the tastes are back in line, it appears the first one was a bad batch or was just old. Nice carmel taste, no sourness. No nasty sour taste lingers. Sweet crystal malt, noticable use of Cascade hops and very balanced. A touch of rich biscuit malt flavors. Easy to drink and refreshing smoothness to it. A good example of an amber ale.
The score is an attempt to combine both reviews above.

Poured a crystal clear blood red with visible carbonation and a 3 finger off-cream colored head that went away after a couple minutes to leave a spotchy thick canvas over the of the beer. Leaves a very thick but not very stick lacing down the glass.

Nose is a very nice caramel sweetness and some alcohol in there(?). Smells almost like a doppelbock. Very sweet.

Caramel is the primary flavor on the tongue, very little hop for a red/amber ale... Some roast and tobacco flavors lead to what is a slightly dry finish.

Medium body with a nice cleansing carbonation.

Pretty easy to drink but aside from the appearance and mouthfeel this is an atypical red ale. Not too much going on in the way of hop flavor at all. Freshness may be an issue but as I didn't purchase this from the brewery I can't be sure. I didn't buy this from one of my regular stores so I'm not sure how long it's been on the shelf.

poured a clear reddish amber color with a thick tiny bubbled off white heading. Globs of lacing stuck throughout.

Smell is all sweet malt's a little overpowering. With an aroma of caramel and very subtle hoppiness I caught on the backend.

Taste is a burnt caramel taste but still very sweet if that makes sense.

Mouth is very smooth swoosh it around a bit and you get a mouthful of foam. Medium bodied.

Drink is ok nothing fantastic but with that burnt caramel taste I really didn't want to have another one.

Thanks to tpd975 and the UGLY Duckling BIF for this unhyped, but great local beer.

16oz bottle

Poured a very hazy coppery orange with huge rocky foam that died down a little, but leaves minimal lace. Smells of bright slightly sour strawberry and cranberry, with plenty of grains and a little alcohol. Taste is growing on me the more I drink, with a berry fruited lightly sweet overtone riding a well bodied malty middle. Flavors are full, yet nothing is overdone, with a cereal grain and mild alcohol finish. Feel is full-medium bodied with fizzy carbonation. Drinks pretty well for a little known brew. Unique balance with some red fruity notes and malt fullness. A pretty well done ale with a drinkable taste. I'm certainly feeling the mystery alcohol level, so it's worth noting.

Again on tap at the brewery. A nicely poured pint, reddish tan..of course..with a light tan med thick head, little strength in that head though, average lacing. Good aroma, mainly sweet malts. The taste didn't quite live up to the presentation, again mainly a med sweet malt flavor, lacking the hop finish that would have made this beer. Still drinkably, just a only slighty better that average red ale

I am sampling a slightly chilled pint bottle in a clear glass mug. The beer pours a clear amber/copper color with a creamy off white tightly packed head of 2 cm foaming up easily. Head fades gradually to a surface layer. Aroma is a mix of caramel and toffee with hints of grassy hops. I get a bit of a husky grain scent as well. First sip reveals an average body with average and tingly carbonation. The flavor is quite nice with sweet caramel hitting my palate first leaving a dry biting grassy hop finish in its wake. The beer is very smooth and goes down easily. I can imagine having quite a few of these with a burger and fries and enjoying it a lot!
A good score from the sunshine state!

Appearance: coppery-ruby-brown, great clarity; thick layer of sudsy, loose foam that expands and collapses to a meager ring

Aroma: cane juice, brown sugar, grain husks, unripe apples

Flavor: dryish malt backbone with a tangy edge of roast and an herbal hop taste; brown sugar and a hint of tobacco; finishes dry with a green hop aftertaste

Mouthfeel: medium-light body, spritzy carbonation, crisp texture

Other comments: A lively, bubbly brew with a gorgeous color. It's a bit "raw" tasting, though (if that makes any sense).

Poured on-tap at the Dunedin Brewery. The beer was served in a pint glass, and it pours a dark, ruby coloring with a slight haze. The color has some brown muddle, too. Almost opaque. There was a thin, light, frothy head. Super-sweet toffee and caramel aromas, with a little roasted character, too. Caramel and tangy sweet toffee, with roasty/toasty undertones. The body has a light smoothness to it. The tartness gets very tangy towards the end. There is a slight sourness to the syrupy sweet aftertaste. The finish is slightly cloying, and lingers a bit.
