On-tap at the brewery, served on a Pint glass.

A: red and copper color with a head that was a little less than a finger. Excellent lacing.

S: disappointingly somewhat mute for an IPA. Sure, some traces of the typical hops and herbal aromas were there but you had to 'look' for them instead of them finding you.

T: very good taste, strong hops presence with herbal and oak tones and a slight malt sweetness that rounds up the tasting.

M: light to medium body, medium carbonation, drinkable.

O: a very good IPA, although I wish it would do a better job of capturing the essence of the style in the smell. Nevertheless a good brew and highly recommended.

The brew pours a golden-copper hue and is topped with a good crown of off-white froth; lace is spotty, but present. The nose is way hoppy, but also shows some well-placed malt sweetness which is confirmed in the flavor. A spicy, earthy hop sits atop sugar cookie maltiness, and nuances of candied citrus peek through; this beer is impressively and quite unusually apportioned. The finish is quite bitter and offers resiny mango notes as well as sappy pine. The feel is just a bit toothier than medium, but it is still quite refreshing. Overall, another winner for Dunedin. This brewery is on the come-up, big-time.
