Close to two fingers worth of active fizzy quickly receding off white colored head... Once receded it leaves a mostly full veil of lacing and slight-to-moderate collor... A limited bit of carbonation... Just a few very rapid streaks along the sides of the glass... The color is a muted golden peach... There is a subtle haziness suspended throughout... The nose is slightly subdued but quite appealing... At the forefront is a near perfect mix of Belgian yeast and farmhouse funkiness... Loaded with fresh cut grass notes... A very light overly ripe fruit character... Buried deep down beneath the surface are the faint hints of ginger... The flavor profile falls a bit flat... An odd mix of Belgian yeast, grassy notes and funk none of which seems to compliment one another... The is a slightly watered down lactic sourness... Some white grapes... Some tannins as well... I hate to say it, but some papery cardboard notes as well... On the fuller side of light bodied... Lots of prickly spry carbonation... The finish is exceedingly dry... Not a terrible beer, but far from a great one... I had high expectations and ended up being a bit let down... I have fairly high expectations of both Saint Somewhere and Terry Hawbarker, but this one doesn't do either justice... At it's core, this one is a slightly sub par Saison, slightly sub par sour, and slightly sub par offering...

Served on-tap at Al's of Hampden. A vintage keg stashed away.

A - Pours hazy golden yellow with a beautiful one and a half finger tall white head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small trails of lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of strong kumquat fruitiness, very light spice, but of musty funk, dash of earthy mineral and some doughy pale malt.

T - Starts off with a quick hit of peppery spice quickly being enveloped by the strong kumquat fruitiness, mild funk, damp earth and some chewy pale malt. Finish is pretty dry, lingering long after the finish.

M - Medium body with moderate carbonation. Fruity, funky feel with a good amount of dryness backing it up.

O - Just as when it came out the draft is fruitier than in the bottles. I think I prefer the draft version as the fruit comes through more, as was intended. Looking forward to seeing how it ages in the bottles.

750ml corked and caged offering poured into a snifter. The brew appears a hazy golden color with a copper orange shine through the body. A big white froth fades back holding with a firm finger. Some stringy to patchy lace hangs on the glass.

The smell is fruity with tropical notes mixed with an earthen funk and mild herb element. A slight spice like clove overtop a wheat-like or straw character. All the advertised ingredients come through with subtle nuance that is enjoyable.

The taste has a mild tart fruitiness that blends to a dry spice like pepper and clove. It its herbal and modestly bitter with a wheat grain aspect almost like hay or straw. This is a prickly brew that runs quite a spectrum of characteristics across your tongue from start to finish but you have a really hard time segregating the additions from the beer itself which is to be commended.

This is light bodied brew with an effervescent amount of carbonation. It is light and refreshing and really pops with a sharp crispness to the finish. A solid arrangement of complexity. My only gripe is that this might be a touch too bitter that distracts from the yeast and fruitiness a bit but otherwise this is solid. Despite knowing what the "additions" to this beer was, I was hard pressed to individually pick them out which was pleasant. For a 5% saison, it is so well attinuated and dry that after you take a sip, you are thirsty for more. I could drink this all day.
