A : Pours a nice clear golden color with a one finger head.

S : Mainly a sweet citrus aroma with notes of spice

T : Tastes great. There's some nice fruit flavors with some of the funky yeast flavors. The funky yeast flavors were a lot less noticeable than I was expecting but I really liked that. There's definitely some good spice flavors, especially cinnamon

M : Medium-bodied with good carbonation

D : One of the most drinkable saisons that I've had. I'm going to have to make a trip to Florida to pick more up.

"Handcrafted Belgian Style Ale" from the US, says the label. Although there is not much of Belgian here. It pours flat. Swirl it hard like a wine and still no head. Headless. It tastes like plain white wine. No carbonation. No flavor other than slightly bitter. This is not a beer

cork says it's from 2013

A: poured into an oversized wine glass to a slightly cloudy light orange with a two finger dense and rocky white head that is slow to fade
S: smells of lemons, dry crackers, black pepper, and slight funk
T: taste is slightly tart, very spicy with pepper and rosemary, some funky horseblanket and some malt flavor. swallow is heavy band aid and medicine
M: this beer is medium on the mouth with soft and slightly prickly carbonation
O: Overall it's pretty funky, the finish is so strong it keeps shouting over the rest of the drinks that I take. It's drinkable if you like this kind of thing. It tastes like a beer from Fantome

750 ML bottle
Served in a tulip glass
2012 vintage

A - It is a cloudy golden beer with pale yellow highlights. It is topped by a mountain of eggshell head.

S - It has a spicy smell with some tangerine. There is a some dank basement as well.

T - The taste follows the nose. I get some mellow spices to start. Then I get some orange flavors. It finishes with some funk.

M - Moderate and highly carbonated.

O - This is a very good saison on a warm spring day. I am really enjoying this beer. I will have to seek out some more Saint Somewhere beers. This was my first try. I am very impressed.

I dig the cloudy golden color. It's very hazy, think of a dark witte. The head is thick and a sort of light yellow or dirty white. Good retention, no lace.

The scent is all over the place, but nice. Lots of stuff going on, you can smell complexity. Green grape and white pepper, orange and honey, faint candied sugar and European hops. Smells like a funky saison should.

As usual, the white pepper dominates. It pushes right up to the edge of 'too much,' and I think it eventually crosses the line. Green grape should be there and is. A splash of honey, then a bunch of spices. Actually, there are too many herbs for me.

It's sweet but immediately turns tart. It's tangy, but turns immediately spicy. It's got an extreme amount of carbonation. The head never fully dissipates, and the bubbles are sharp to the palate (and expect to burp a lot). This completely lacks sophistication. My throat is on fire after just a few ounces, and each sip makes it worse.

The attractive look and smell can only help it so much. This thing is extremely aggressive on the taste buds and palate. I can deal with tart and funky, but the spiciness and carbonation are just too much to enjoy.

Appearance - the cork blows with focus and intent, upon cork inspection I see this is a 2009 vintage. Foam starts rising up the neck immediately. Pointing it towards a sampling glass, I barely can hold the flow, but by the slimmest of margins the glass contains the beer's exuberance. The beer is a slightly hazy macro lager color with *plenty* of suds. After the head subsides, the lacing is ropy and plentiful but not overwhelming. The bottle continues to push out foam for a minute or two until I get a good 6 or 7 ounces into the glass.

Aroma - slightly soapy, slightly funky...like a janitorial bucket of cleanser. Saisons for me are still a challenge to enjoy/appreciate.

Taste - lemony, soapy, dry wine-like notes. Plenty of intensity as far as flavor goes. I just find some of the flavors hard to get into. The lemony side is fine, but the funk and solvent come across as Pine-Sol and lemon juice. Despite that, it is fairly enjoyable given my personal alignment with the style and I welcome the prospect of trying to finish the bottle solo.

Mouthfeel - plenty of bubbles, refreshing body, well done here.

Overall - with some palate adjustment and mental preparation for a 'winey' beer, this is an eye-opener for a tasting, or a fitting session for someone into the tartness and such of the style.
