That's why you put a cage over a cork... This one was ready to pop open all on its own... A fairly standard pour yields a voluminous densely packed light cherry colored active froth... Audibly fizzy... Awesome head retention... The color is a flat black inky aubergine... Mostly still with just a stray carbonation bubble here and there... Subtle Belgian yeast notes... A very light roasted malt aroma... The aroma also displays some light currant and black raspberry notes... This is a light but unassertive funkiness that permeates as well... A hint of floral aromas as well... All the aromas are light and subtle, but they work very well together and weave a fairly complex nose... Much more deliberate on the palate... The Belgian yeast notes and funkiness seem to clash with the roasted malt presence... The rest of the subtleties alluded to by the nose get lost in the collateral damage... The mouthfeel is dry and rather direct... Sharp carbonation... A little rough around the edges... A bit of chalkiness... A unique offering that challenges the senses, but isn't a brew that I would indulge in with any regularity... The appearance and aroma are outstanding, but the flavor profile and mouthfeel are a bit less than desirable... The end result is a challenging and slightly enjoyable offering from the fine folks at Saint Somewhere that proves to be a bit less than the sum of its parts...

It is rare such a unique beer turns out so well. The slight roasted flavor and aroma works perfectly with the slight barnyard funk.

Corked and caged bottle poured into Fantome tulip. Like most Saint Somewhere brews, the cork is lively! 2012 marked on the bottom of the cork! Nice surprise :)
Poured a deep black color with tan head...huuge 3 finger head.
Aroma is fantastic! Big funky, sour, cherry, leathery, with a roasty note. Flavor is chocolatey cherry, leather, funky, sour...its just so good.
Its dry but crisp...all around balanced yet chaotic.
I absolutely love this beer!
