Bottle from case dated Nov 30 2011...very fresh only a week and a half old...poured into a Delirium Tremens Snifter...

A - Crystal clear caramel amber, half inch head, nice lacing left around the glass...

S - Wonderful Amarillo hop essence...floral-pine-citrus-dank aroma...very nice dry hopping!

T - The taste is unfortunately a little unbalanced and not well blended...but still enjoyable...its like the malts and bitterness are fighting a little bit to blend on your tongue. Nice candied oranges taste, with grapefruity bitterness. Pretty tasty still.

M - The carbonation is good...very smooth...almost cask-like...a little syrupy...medium-light body

Overall - A very nice IPA...not the most amazing example of the style but very good...especially for the price point...and I love supporting my local philly breweries. I've had this beer on several occasions before and wasn't a fan. Whether or not PBC changed their recipe or if what I've had in the past was old...I've changed my opinon about this IPA. If you can get Newbold fresh definitely give it a try. Its a good ipa.

Cheers!

Decent IPA. Taste centers around bittering hops
. Crisp, refreshing. Smell is decent but nothing special. Feel is good.

Overall decent beer, better than many mass distributed IPAs.

Give it a try, don't let overly negative reviews turn you off.

2 month old bottle, even if fresh would have not been good. Some kinda funky taste. Drainpour.

It pours dark amber that borders a little bit on bright brown. Huge head with very nice lacing left behind. The aroma is fairly sweet from the malts. The taste has a string malty base but with a lingering bitterness. Medium body.

On tap at Rex 1516 in Philadelphia. Served in pint glass with small head. As others have noted, dark color and slightly fruity smell. Taste was very smooth and nice lacing on the glass. I enjoyed.

Darker somewhat hazy looking IPA. I'm getting tropical fruit and slight malt from the nose (fairly inviting). Oh no, not really any translation from the nose to the palate. This beer has a caramelized malt flavor to it with the ever so slight citrus and pine on the end. Watery taste with low carbonation. This is the second beer I've had from this brewer that wasn't very good.

On cask tap at South Philly Tap Room. Served in a pint glass

L - hazy brown - amber color. Fluffy foam on top, sticking to the glass.

S - Pine tree forest. Little bit of grapefruit. Scent mostly of grapefruit with pine as the strong character

T - grapefruit dominant. Citrus but bitter on the back end. Pine is also there.

F - little to no carbonation. Watery feel, typical of cask ales.

Heavy bread on the nose along with medium hop presence. Well balanced in taste with a slight after-taste on the palette. Some sediment present. Bottled from grocer in King of Prussia.
