So it's been a while and had a very, very long day at work this friday so I came home and wanted to pop something.
This Saison is one of the few things I brought back from Philly for some rainy days and boy did it come in fortunate, this one.
Very nice red glow which is almost fully opaque barely allowing some light to shine through. the head is also very generous and in a beige tone. Lasts for a while and is fairly compact.
The smell fills the room. Strong odour of hops in a somewhat IPAish fashion but...sweeter. sort of like a bitterish honey, you'd almost say this could swing anywhere from pale ale to tripel.
Taste is fantastic. the initial sweetness is kinda cola-ish with a bit of a butterscotch feel. thereon there's a nice tangy grapefruitiness to it added on to a mold to it throughout. Hardly any alcohol but it allows itself to be felt. the end is fairly hoppy in a nice manner, rather moderate but very present. Medium bodied makes it thick yet can be handled at any temperature.
Overall, I found this to be not only a very on-the-spot saison, but also a delicious beer and certainly one more reason to like Philly.
