Bottled on Oct. 2, 2014. Can't get much fresher than that. Poured into a snifer.

Look: Really really dark amber, almost brown, with about a finger of pale foam.

Smell: Malt and hops, but there is a strange off aroma, almost sour or medicinal.

Taste: A lot of biscuity malt up front. Balanced out by hops - mostly orange peel and citrus - but not as hoppy as I would expect.

Feel: Nice medium body, decent carbonation, and very smooth.

Overall: A decent brew, but I had high expectations for such a fresh beer, and it didn't quite live up to them. Still, a nice offering and not too expensive, so I'd probably drink it again.

Under 5 bucks 22 ounces of fresh hopped goodness from PA, I'm in. Appears a golden copper hue slightly hazed with hop particles, bright white clouds of head floating thick. Intricate thick chunky lacing looks and smells delicious so far, the smell has grapefruit peel, citrus, and tropical fruit notes it's blaring with hops. Earthy from the vine floral hop buds are everywhere in the nose, it's great. Flavor wise a bit unbalanced toward the hops, lacks malt complexity or even a bready quality to balance out the hops, it's 100% hop driven on the palate. Clean bursts of hops with each sip, bitter zest stays with you through each sip leaving a lingering bitterness sometimes this could be off putting but I'm craving hops today, so it's all good in the hood. BTW, there's a ton of yeast sediment in the bottle, leave it in there the beer keeps all the hops without the yeast additions in the glass. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied just due to the raw hop oils alone, never cloying unless your a pansy about hop bitterness. Clean bold bitter finish sticks around between sips, I'm a fan and I'm proud to say I like most of Philly Brewing's creative efforts. Their house yeast strain though seems to have a powdered chalk finish that I don't care for in most of their bottle conditioned offerings, that's a minor complaint here.

Pours a light amber-gold color.

The aroma has a light touch of pine. The flavor has a light pine with some citrus. Nothing pops out. This is a fresh hop ale…which lacked the fresh hop punch I crave. Could very well be past its prime. Wish it was more exciting.
