Pours a ruby tinted amber, minimal head and little lacing. Scent is pale, mostly sweet caramel and touches of earthy hops. Taste is not as rich as others in style, the malt is present but not sweet as the style dictates, light earthiness from the hops. Body is disappointingly light, carbonation at good lower level. An average beer at best, one of the lightest in terms of flavor and body I have had in the style.

First of all...I love the name of this beer. Not a style of beer that I drink on a regular basis. Definitely a malt bomb with an abundance of flavors. Vanilla, raisin, molasses, brown sugar, light floral (must be the heather) and very earthy malt flavors. You can distinctly feel the alcohol warming you up. I'm enjoying this on a mild Spring evening, however Kilty Pleasure would be a fantastic beer for a sub zero January night. The more I drink this beer...the more I drink enjoy it. Must be the 10.00 ABV!

12 oz bottle served at about 50F in a Belgian snifter.
Pours with a nearly opaque, dark brown body. Short light brown head has good retention.
Aroma: floral (heather?) with way more alcohol than expected ... that is, before I discovered that this has 10% ABV. Hints of vanilla, raisins, brown sugar, and light spicing.
Flavor: Sweet fruity taste up front. Lightly sweet overall with some lingering mild bitterness. Hints of mineral water, baked herbs (heather?), peat and smoke. Earthy and heavily floral aspects contribute to the complexity.
Feel: Medium body with obviously high ABV.
O: a fine, and very Scottish, Wee Heavy.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy, very dark brown color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is malty, some alcohol as well. Taste is malts, alcohol, some hops, more alcohol as it warms. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Pours a medium brown color with an off white head. Some lace stickage and a muffled clarity. Aroma of peat smoked malt, brown sugar, and molasses. In the flavor, caramel, toast, brown sugar, molasses and a bit of smoke. A malt bomb for sure, there is hardly any bitterness. Little alcohol heat for a beer above 8% this drinks a bit too easy. An enjoyable beer, though a bit off the mark from the style. Still, Ive had it a couple of times and its well worth revisiting.

(poured into a tulip)
A: appropriate deep rust hue, mild haze.... not much head, but decent amount of lace
S: soft booze-diluted caramel.... bit of toasted grain and grass
T: straight malt - bold, lightly roasty... perfumy alcohol overtone... moderate bitterness that lasts, balancing nicely.... flowery, dirty-earthy hop aftertaste as well as light-moderate alcohol afterglow
M: pretty decent, thick-ish, mildly viscous feel - lip-smacky, yet fairly dry in the finish
O: taste could have a bit more depth, however, it's pretty solid otherwise.... this is a seemingly tough style for American breweries to nail down properly/accurately - PBC's take leans in the right direction, though - just needs a lil refinement
