Reddish brown in color, with a thin, white head that fades a little but remains full. Little bit of lacing.
Smell is light malts with some mild, fruity tones (banana & apple) and a hint of clove.
Taste is bready malts with some slight tartness that sits at the back of the throat. Banana and applesauce notes, with some more hints of cloves. Little bit of hops can be detected in there.
Mouthfeel is fairly crisp up front with a smooth, clean finish. Medium level of carbonation, and a light-to-medium body.
Drinkability is good. Nothing too detracting in any of the aspects of this beer. Decent for a cool, spring night.

Dark brown in color and a bit murky with hues of orange. Poured with an off-white foam that quickly dissipated. Sweet, dark roasted malt aroma with hints of over-ripe, almost sour, dark fruit. Medium bodied with lazy carbonation. Flavors are similar to aromas. Roasted and toasted malt flavors along with over ripe fruit. Finished cleanly. Very east to drink, but very forgettable aromas and flavors.

A - Poured out a murky brown color with gold highlights. It was very hazy with a one-finger white head of foam that left minimal lacing.

S - It smelled of banana, clove and malt. Very little wheat aroma.

T - It tasted fairly sweet with some banana, clove and wheat flavors.

M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied ale with a dry finish.

O - This was an okay dunkelweizen. Needs some work.

This beer pours a cloudy brown color. The head is two inches in height, and recedes very quickly for a weizen. The head retention is very disappointing. This is an extremely weak looking dunkelweizen. The aroma is of cloves, banana bread, and eraser. It has all the classic qualities of a dunkelweizen, but they just don't blend well together. This is a very awkward smelling beer. The good news is the it doesn't taste as awkward as it smells. The bad news is that it doesn't taste of much at all. There is some faint toffee and banana qualities, b have to concentrate hard to find them. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with very low carbonation which isn't desirable in a dunkelweizen. Overall, this is a bad beer. Dunkelweizen is my favorite beer style, and the brewer has to work hard to mess one up enough for me not to like it. This was brewed by a hard working brewer.

From Notes:

Bottle into my favorite bicentennial jar.

A: Yellow-orange haziness with nice white head.

S: Bubble gum banana

T: Bubble-gummy and banana wheatiness. With a nice maltiness. Gets a bit sweeter as it warms. Good beer.

M: Not bad.

D: Good session beer.

Poured from 500mL bottle into Oberdorfer Weissbier glass. Beer was an iced tea brown color, with a two-finger head that diminished quickly. Moderate carbonation and light lacing.

Aroma was caramel, malt, biscuit, some clove and banana.

Taste was cider, some citrus and fruit. Kind of a strange one...

A: Very cloudy walnut brown. A fizzy cream head starts out strong, but quickly disappears. Leaves no lace.

S: Lots of over ripe banana, plus cloves and a bit of toffee. There's an extra fruit aroma in the back that I couldn't quite pin down. Apple perhaps?

T: Tastes a lot like it smells, which is a good thing. Starts out with a sweet banana bread flavor. A sharp clove spiciness follows. Finishes slightly tart and somewhat dry, with lingering toffee flavors.

M: The grainy body feels under carbonated for this style.

D: I'm torn over this one. The appearance and mouthfeel were way off, but the aroma and flavor were great. Crank up the fizz and get in some head retention and you'd have a nice beer. Unfortunately, this beer is only half right.

Clouded brown beer with just a ring of head.

Smells sweet and much like tea with a tart berry and banana in it. Bit of buckwheat aroma to this one but isn't all that odoriferous.

Starts out sweet with a mulberry and tea flavor. Clove and banana bread flavor here but seem a bit muted as if it had been cooked. This is OK, but eh, I have had better.

Mouthfeel is OK.

In summary this was a boring beer to me. Seems like the brewer just phoned this one in. Not something I can really recommend.

500 ml picked up at Tres Bonne Cuisine.. Poured into my shaped SA glass...

2 finger head dies back slowly with a bunch of lace.. the brew is lighter than I was expecting.. yet still a nice hazy copper.

Nose is unexpectedly balanced toward the grains as opposed to the clove or banana.. toasty bready notes pretty much dominate.. there are still plenty of phenols and esters.. but they are lite given the style..

Flavor mirrors the nose with a nice smack of pink bubblegum.. the maltiness helps me think of some lite vanilla.. bready malts are more punctuated as the glass hits room temperature.. clove and banana are both restrained.. caramel too shows.. wow.. this is alot better than I was expecting.. alot better as it hits room temperature..

The body is light/medium and the carbonation is a smooth medium.. I am amazed how fresh this one tastes...

Again.. I am astounded how fresh most of the German brews that I get at TBC actually taste.... I doubt it is legal.. but you would have to be a real A-Hole to complain.

A - An initially massive four finger khaki head looks beautiful for 30 seconds, but wastes no time dropping down to nothing at all. No lace, no foam, not even swirling makes any difference. After about a minute I'm left with a bourbon-brown brew with absolutely no toppings.

S - Chocolate cake batter, banana baby food, banana yogurt (the kind that you have to mix up the bottom dwelling fruit yourself), vanilla wafer cookies, ans graham crackers. This is a blast from the past! I lived on banana pudding and vanilla wafers when I was a kid, and graham crackers never lasted long around my house when I had a gallon of milk to soak them in. Good stuff, and a little trip down memory lane is always nice. But, this is a bit weak and under assertive, and would have garnered a much higher score if it had more oomph.

T - The banana and vanilla wafers start things off, but are soon replaced by a twangy wheat acidity that clears up the relatively sweet initial sip. Some hints of lemon drop candy make this almost puckery in the mid palate, before finishing up salty and extremely dry. Good progression of flavors, but none of them are stunners.

M - Light, crisp, tangy, sour, and extremely carbonated. The finish is really dry and leaves yeasty flavors behind. Nice.

D - Pretty good. There are much better dark wheat beers out there though. I've never really been impressed with Aktienbraurei...the Oktoberfest sucks, and that's a hard one to screw up. This is just mediocre. I like the vanilla wafer and banana pudding notes, so I'm having a hard time hating this beer.

The aroma is heavy with brown sugar and caramel. There is also some dark fruit, raisins, yeast, and bread. The appearance is amber brown with yeast chunks and a small head. The flavor is like the aroma and somewhat bitter and acidic. The palate is thin and poorly carbonated. I like the beer but it just seems sub-par in to many areas to be a great beer.
