I've been here a handful of times between my last couple of Portland trips. It never fails to impress.

The taplist is always local, with something different and special (though not necessarily rare / hyped / etc.) on. On various trips, I've seen things from Cascade, Great Divide, Oakshire, Widmer, Heater-Allen, etc. I feel like I have a pretty good handle on Portland beer, but I seem to encounter something new each time I'm there.

The pour sizes and prices are clearly spelled out on the menu (seriously, this is such a basic courtesy and so many bars fail to do it). Big points for that. Very reasonable prices. They sell bottles to go, and they also seem to fill growlers, according to the menu.

I've always had the same bartender: a scruffy, shaggy guy who is very friendly and knows a lot about beer. On my first trip, I didn't realize the water was self-serve, so when I asked for some, he went and got it. Good service. He also makes great recommendations if you have an idea of what you're looking for.

They don't serve food, but I saw other patrons bringing in food from the Mexican place next door.

Where else can you get $3.50 12-oz pours of Notorious?

Bailey's offers cheap prices, a high-tech tap list that shows how much is remaining in each keg, a PNW-focused tap selection, and a relaxed atmosphere.

I travel to Portland for business very often, and I always spend at least one night at Bailey's. The true rotating taps, focus on the unusual and nano brews, and knowledgeable staff make it a great place to be. It does get crowded later in the week, so be fore-warned. I also recommend getting dinner from Santeria's brought over.
