This is my favorite bar in Portland. Atmosphere is a nice mix of urban hipster loft yet still has a comfy vibe where you needn't feel anything but relaxed...a few different sized tables, some sofas in a living room type area up front, and about 15 bar stools.
Quality of the drinks is top notch. All 20 taps rotate frequently and are strictly NW, mainly locals, with a great seasonal variety. A small but well choose selection of bottles (mostly bigger sized) and a few local wines, as well as french press coffee.
Service is great, geoff the owner/bartender is super nice and knowledgeable on the beers. I applaud him for ditching the career and opening a place like this and am always happy to support it.
Food is just cheese/chocolates/olives, I've had all but the chocolate, and it's a nice little selection of good local stuff.
Price is pretty good, impy pints and great deal on 5 x 4 oz samplers if you're feeling tempted to try the many beers on the menu that day that you probably haven't had before. My wife's not into beer bars, but always enjoys coming down here for some relaxed conversation and good drink.

Bailey's is among the cream of the crop -- a shining example of what taprooms in Portland should aspire to be. There is always a table or seat available, only TV's in sight are the taplist, and you can actually have a conversation (however, the music selection is jammin', to its credit). Sitting outside also nets you a front row seat for the heart of downtown Portland -- for better or for worse!
Never had I drunk a beer from Bailey's and thought there was a potential problem with the tap lines. There is always fast and friendly service, there is always a high quality beer available on its 26 rotating taps. If you haven't already done so, please do yourself a favor and visit Bailey's Taproom (and also The Upper Lip, while you're at it!)

I must have been to Portland 25 times over the past 8 years and have never made it to Bailey’s, this was the trip I was going to rectify that.
Bailey’s is a nice and airy pub. It has high windows on two sides of the bar room and really high ceilings with some exposed brick. It has a bit of a quirky shape and that adds to the charm.
The bar is in against the left wall as you enter. It must seat about 20. Only downside for me is some of the bar stools are permanently attached to the floor. I was happy to grab the last seat as it was pretty crowded. There are some tables along the walls/windows and a few seats outside.
The service was fine but a bit slow. Since it was crowded for happy hour and I was not in any real hurry, I was ok with it.
They have a beer board that lists the 26 beers on tap. Most of these were local which is great. They also had a cooler with bottles and cans.
There is no food but they are cool if you want to bring your own in.
The music was turned down low so it was easy to converse. No TVs so not an option to catch a game (there is a huge sports bar about two buildings away if you have to watch a big game).
I was very glad to finally make it here!

One of Portland's all-time greats, and a must stop when in town. While it can get pretty crowded in the evening and on weekends the service is always quick and friendly. While there are some bottles for sale, I generally stick with the taps, of which there are twenty-six, representing a range of styles, and most of them from here in Oregon. Along with the Beer Mongers and Horsebrass, it's one of my favorite places to imbibe.

I stopped in at Bailey's Taproom on a recent trip to Portland because it seemed like a nice watering hole near my hotel. Boy, was I pleased at this find! Relatively small and intimate inside, it's got a big selection of brews (30+ I'd guess), almost all from the NW Oregon area. Service was good and the atmosphere was great for setting down with a book from Powell's and having a couple pints. I highly recommend Bailey's if you're in town for a short time, as there is a good selection of styles and local breweries. I'll definitely try to stop here again on my next trip.

Love the selection - always something for everyone in terms of style, locale, abv, etc. The display screen listing the beer on tap is still the best one I've seen even after they invited the idea (at least, in the Portland area, they were the first). The staff are all well-versed beer geeks with spot on suggestions and usually freely offer information about new releases, bad batches... I wish I could bring Bailey's to my current location!

Last stop on my first night in PDX from a recent trip.
Vibe is super busy and clean (lots of white). Looks older on the outside, while the inside is pretty barren and basic looking. Definitely had a buzz about the place though.
Quality and selection was top notch. Tap list was 20+ of mostly PNW offerings, I had a Barley Brown and a DeGarde beer, both were excellent.
Service was fine, but nothing special. They were busy, and the guy was quick, but he wasn't super friendly. I can understand though, the place was slammed.
Overall? Well worth a visit, one of the better tap rooms in downtown Portland.

I love that the selection and barrel-levels are available online. They also have a standing understanding/relationship with Santeria across the street. I ordered some tacos, and the kind waiters brought them to me, condiments and all. I'm not so sure about the "rude" "hipster" bartenders that I've read some complain about, but my experiences there have been stellar.

Well, let's start with the beer. 20 taps, mostly local, interesting but nothing special. Prices are average maybe a bit higher, handful of random mix of locals bottles. Bartenders are OK, pretty busy and don't seem super knowledgeable, but can't really judge as they are too busy.
Music is loud, dubstep, a bit offensive in music, I realized I went into hipster country to get here too and this is prob the most hipster place I've seen so far.
Typical open cieling with pipes running around, fake brick walls, decent long bar top. Also it's the "fun" part of town, saw cross-dressing stripper pass me on the walk here, some drunk hobos, a bunch of drunk teenagers, thugs, group of hipsters, etc. Even if it was an awesome place, I don't think I'd want to come back. I do like that they tell you how low each keg is on the monitors, as well as on the website.

I've grown up on the East Coast and for about two years I was lucky enough to travel to Portland, OR for work about every three months. I was staying downtown and looking for a place to taste some of the great beers that the West Coast has to offer and was recommended Bailey's. Only about 4 blocks from my hotel I made it a point to walk to Bailey's at least three of the five nights I was visiting. They have a huge digital beer board and carry about 22 beers on tap along with one nitro selection. About 80-90% of the beers are from the West Coast and once a keg kicks another beer is rotated in; if you go on a Monday and then again on Friday the beers will have probably changed 2-3 times. Phenomenal selection, no matter what you like there will be at least a couple great beers to try.
Can't enough about this place, I'm not traveling to Portland again anytime soon but when I do this place is a sure stop.

Cool place. Solid but not spectacular. What Bailey's has going for it is location. If you are staying downtown on the west side of the river, there aren't many great beer bars, so Bailey's stands out. Tap list when I was there was solid, but nothing worth noting. Vibe is pretty cool too.
