prior to purchasing we noticed this from the Inlet Brewery of Jupiter ,Fla . which actually not quite true it is actually brewed/bottled in North Carolina. ....read on I thought we were were going to rewarded with another Belgian style ale this resembles a poor Amstel light at it's best
poured into a Pint glass, medium carbonation,then settles quickly.lacings well..not much really
Amber color more like orange , hops noted but minimal and appears to be almost artificially carbonated .
Very poor and was dissappointed in smell ,taste,finish and an extremely high price for a six pack. They have some learning to do if they want to stay in business and call this a Belgian ale. see my review of Palm ales corp brewer crap

I must have gotten ahold of a bad batch. This poured absolutely flat and syrupy. It had no nose whatsoever--very weird. No head. There was a slight root beer taste, but I wasn't interested enough to finish it.

There was an overpowering fishy taste to the beer. I lost the Belgian-y esters and the malty notes I was hoping for. I remember catching the off-flavors on an earlier bottle I'd picked up, but nothing as strong as this. After three sips, it was a bottle dump. And that's rare for me.

Bottle poured into a glass.

A - Looks like a nut brown ale. Not much of a head, but was poured, by the waitress, from the bottle into a glass.

S - Not much to it. Smells like a pilsner with more malt.

T - Tastes like it smells. Definitely does not taste like a red ale, but I've been spoiled by Cigar City's red (Tocobaga) for quite some time. Tastes like a pilsner with more malt and a strong nutty flavor.

M - Very, very light for a 5.5%. A very drinkable beer - not what I was expecting - in fact, I was hoping for something much heavier.

O - Worth a try, but I won't be having another.

Intersting note: Outsource brewed. Made by Inlet Brewing in Jupiter, FL, but brewed in NC...

Tried a pint of this local brew in Rooney's in Abacoa, Jupiter. To be honest I wasn't too impressed.The beer had a slightly watery funky flavour to it. Visually it looked good; clear and with a thin head. There was no offputting smell but from the first mouthful something didn't click and I switched back to Bass.

A: Hmmm... For an amber, the color is not very amber... more orange in nature actually. It is crystal clear in transparency and the head was about 2-3 fingers.

S: No floral notes or hoppiness of any kind. I smelled rusted metal and a bit of yeast. A bit of Belgian funk, but no fruitiness to balance it out.

T: The taste is a bit better, but not much. Thin-bodied with a very faint fruit (pear or apple?) and hop presence that tried its damnest to poke through the yeast and malt.

M: Very thin, not creamy in the slightest, and carbonation seemed (and looked) a bit on the flat side.

D: I decided to stick it out and finish the bottle, but I won't be getting this again.

12oz brown glass pry-top bottle. Shoulder stamped "Monk-138 BA" or "Monk - 138 8A" (can't tell if the second to last character is a B or 8).

Appearance: Pours an amber gold with tall creamy head that falls down rather quickly with some spotting.

Nose: Big Belgian yeast nose and some spicyness. Something a little acrid or off-putting. Maybe a weird interaction between yeast and malts/hops? I've smelled this before but am not certain what it means. Smells like there might be some rye in there and some faint whispers of heavily toasted oak chips.

Palate: Crisp and fruity. Some caramel and dark candi sugar chill out underneath the fruity Belgian yeast. That weird over-toasted oak chip flavor is there and something odd I just don't care for.

Notes: Worth my trying once, but don't think I'd return for another one.

Appearance: Clear brown. Would have like to have seen more reddish color. Head dissipates after about 2 minutes.

Smell: Malty scent with earthy tones. Barely floral. A hint of fruit (banana?). Not very strong aroma.

Taste: Mild. Slightly sweet. Malty. Grains have that taste like rice/sorghum (see also: New Grist from Lakefront Brewery). The main drawback of the taste is an "earthy" flavor that hits the roof of your mouth. . Slightly bitter aftertaste.

Drinkability: Really pretty good, despite that slight funk in the aftertaste.

12 oz bottle poured in to a goblet.

Pours a clear amber with a nice thick white head.

Smell is a crackery and yeasty.

Taste is slightly tart and bready. Pretty poor.

Mouthfeel is good.

Drinkability is very average.

A big let down. I guess the east coast can't keep up with the west coast of florida.

Got this an extra in a recent trade with Unclejazz. Poured into a pint glass. This one pours a clear light amber with a finger of white head.

Lots of bready malts up front with a faint grassy hop aroma in the background. A little bit of an old fruit aroma in the background. Yeasty malt on the pallet with a little bit of a bitter grassy hop finish. Not to bad but doesn't seem to pull one way or another.

The body is light with good carbonation. Overall this one isn't bad. I'm not crazy about it but I'll enjoy it this time.

Pours an amber color with a nice and frothy white head that leaves good lacing. Aromas of caramel and toasted bread, along with hay and a nuttiness, fruity esters, and belgian yeast. The flavor is spicy with notes of rye and white pepper, along with some biscuit and caramel, fruity esters, toffee, pear and some alcohol. The mouthfeel is sharp and drinkability is limited. This one is pretty rough around the edges, with an intense spiciness.

I had the pleasure of trying this beer at the Yard House in West Palm, FL and it wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, it wasn't my type of beer although I drank it since I will never waste a beer. This is the type of beer that you have to at least try, don't knock it until you try it. I would decribe the beer a little bit but to be honest, I don't remember anything except for the copper taste (if I recall right).

Monk in the Trunk pours an amber color with a white head from a brown twelve ounce bottle. There is a touch of fruit in the aroma. The flavor has a bit of caramel and some fruit. It doesn't strike me as very well balanced. I think this is relatively new to being bottled, and I see on the bottle that it is being contract brewed by the Thomas Creek brewery in South Carolina (rather than being brewed in Orlando as it was when it was just on tap).

Pours a brilliant copper color with a loud fizzing head that falls quickly to almost nothing. The nose reveals not a lot...some sweet malt, mild hops. Taste is simple - sweet malt, slight bitter hops, mild caramel. The beer is medium in body and a bit fizzy in the carbonation department. Overall it's OK - the carbonation hurts it in my opinion.

Half finger off white head with decent lacing and little retention on a clear amber body. Aroma is simple with caramel and toasted malts with hint of citrus hops. Flavor is very sweet with candy sugar and caramel on a toasted malt base. Oily, medium body and moderate carbonation. This one is too sweet for me. It's also very simple. Drinkable yes but wouldn't go for another.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, light, orange-amber coloring with steady carbonation action throughout and a thin, low profile, filmy white head. Aromas of caramel, candy sweetness, and a very light hint of toasted character. Flavors are bitter roast and cloying sweet forward, with a sugary caramel lead. Jumbled palate, and the carbonation only adds to the mess. Sharp and light in mouth, with a tangy, sugary sweet aftertaste. The finish is light and fairly clean, but also a bit limp. Lackluster beer, but drinkable if devoid of other options.

Appearance: Perfectly clear burnished gold. Head is bright-white. Drops pretty quickly. Negligible lacing. Head thins to a small ring around the edge of the glass. Standard fare here.

Smell: Caramel malts and a big biscuity kick. Apple skins and cereal grains. Minerality hides in the back. Did someone roll a red apple in some biscuit dough? Slightly grassy. Oddly sweet as well. It hits on par for the style, but lacks depth. The entire aroma is up front and disappears in seconds.

Taste: Malts and more malts. Sweet caramel malts and a doughy hit of biscuit. Grassy aftertaste. Flavor disappears almost as fast as the aroma did. Faintly spicy, but loaded up with apples and biscuits. Apple skin in particular. Faint hints of toasted malts, but it's barely there and desperately needed. Not a lot of depth.

Mouthfeel: Nice and smooth. A touch creamy with a moderate carbonation. Body pushes the high side of medium. Easily the best aspect of this beer.

Overall: Decent, but lacking depth and structure. It's all up front and then done.

[Suggested Glassware: Shaker Glass]

It poured a clear medium amber with an average (1-2 finger) off white creamy head that offered up great retention, finally reducing to a long lasting thin cap and had excellent sheets of lacing.

The aroma was extremely mild of a light grain malt, mild herbal hops and a light earthy yeast with notes of caramel, a bit of spice and a light fruity ester.

The taste was very different from the aroma. It was bold, very malty and a tad sweet with a big note of caramel that lasted throughout, with the finish having a mild fruitiness and a small bite of spiciness towards the end. The flavor hung around for a decent amount of time proceeding the swallow, with a nice sweet malty taste that was left to linger on the taste buds for a while longer.

Mouthfeel was just under medium in body with a creamy yet mildly dry texture and a soft carbonation.

Overall I was rather taken by surprise with this very impressive organic Amber Ale. It possessed a ton of flavor and an awesome drinkability. This is most likely is the best organic beer I have tasted to date...

12oz bottle poured into shaker pint. Crystal clear copper in color with a foamy white two-finger head that recedes to a thin cap. Aroma is of fruity yeast, caramel malt, bread, and grass. The taste is sweet with caramel, bread, apple, and biscuit. Only a slight bitter grass note comes through in the swallow. Medium-light body, thin texture, above average active carbonation, sweet finish.

A - pours a clear copper with a 0.5 finger head that disappears quickly

S - smells of some faint caramel malt, grains, and a bit of bready yeast

T - the taste starts off with some grainy malts. These give way to a little bit of an aluminum taste that is soon masked by some spices. It finishes with. A dry fruitiness that is rounded out by a little bit of nuttiness. Not bad, however there isn't any balance to this.

M - medium bodied with loads of carbonation that burns

D - not a bad brew by any means, but I just wasn't too blown away by this one. Decently sessionable, but I am moving on to something else for the rest of the day.

Had this on tap at Orlando Brewing Co. where it is a contract brew.
Pours a light copper, almost orange body with minimal head and little lacing. A good, sharp fruit smell is evident along with hints of sweet malts, but they are barely noticeable. The fruits are evident in the taste, but they are a little sharp and biting; could pulled back on the citric/acidic taste a little. The beer retains a smoothness and very light sweetness, but the sharp citrus gives it a minor stinging backbite. This is an OK beer but not a great one for me.

GallowsThief kindly sent this to me perhaps having seen my beer fest persona of Brother Woody of the Order of Disorder or perhaps because he felt generous. Either way, I'm down with it and it is time to drink some beer!

I got just over two fingers of dense, tawny head off of my pour that looked like the top of an ice cream float. Color was a coppery reddish-amber with NE-quality clarity. Nose had a sugary malty sweetness to it that is usually not my bag, but I soldiered on. Mouthfeel was medium with a nutty, slightly sweet taste in the mouth. I was relieved that it was not as sweet as the nose led me to expect, but it was not all that tasty, either. It lacked any kind of Oomph that might have separated it from other beers of the style. Finish was pleasant but otherwise not noteworthy. It was a pretty middle-of-the-road beer and I appreciate the gesture, but it would not be worth seeking out.

Pours a crystal clear golden amber with a big fluffy beige head that recedes slowly to a small cap with decent lacing.

Aroma is pretty basic with sweet apples, caramel malts and a bit of earthy hops. There is also a lightly toasted character and some fruity esterse in the nose as well.

The taste is even more basic with some very, very light caramel malts with little else. There's a slightly bitter, toasty finish.

The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

This is not a bad beer but certainly nothing to write home about, especially the taste which is very one dimensional and bland.

12oz. bottle served in my SA Perfect Pint. No freshness dating. Poured a translucent copper with a loose, one inch, tan-colored head. Head eventually settles into fairly consistent skim that gathers around the edges. Some spots of lacing exposed during the tasting. Nose is a little macroesque - a suggestion of hops and perhaps some citrus, but also cereal grains. Taste consistent with nose - maybe some light fruity esters in the mix, and perhaps a hint of caramel malt, but overshadowed by the cereal grains. Mouthfeel is light-medium with a lively background carbonation and a fairly crisp finish. Decent, but nothing to write home about - a little weak for the style.

The unknown local beer from Heatwave33. Here goes nothin!

Very light amber color, almost like Yuengling. Semi-frothy bright white head floats atop. Not bad carbonation.

Smell is slightly acrid. Hints of dry grains, caramel malts. Astringent smelling. uh oh.

Spicy corn, hints of rye, and other adjunct grains. Caramel malt is somewhere in the background, actually offsetting the spicy rye flavors. Not real sure if there is rye, but it feels like it. The initial spiciness subsides, leaving a nice caramel smoothness that i like. maybe a touch of diacetyl.
