Pours nicely with very little head. Amber coloring looked gorgeous with the newly-emerged sun shining through the windows and through the glass. It was a hot, stormy day here in SWFL today and this was the beer I reached for to unwind after it all calmed down. A great afternoon / early evening beer. I've had it both poured into a glass as well as straight from the bottle several times over the past few weeks and have never been disappointed. Paired it with sausage and pepper pizza and some (very hot) hot wings - went very well with both!

The bottle states those who enjoy the beer love it for "its most intriguing quality, true drinkability." I heartily agree with this statement. It is a light beer in taste without being TOO light. Smell is not overpowering - slight hop emerging from malty goodness.

Very highly recommended (especially to those of you whom enjoy organic beer). However a note to Florida Beer Aficionados: most seem to miss this on the bottle but it is actually brewed for Inlet Brewing Company in Jupiter by Thomas Creek in South Carolina. I was a little sad to see that pop up on the side of the bottle (didn't notice it as first - it was given to our office as a "welcome to Florida, here are our local goodies" gift so the giver didn't apparently notice as well).

12 oz bottle at about 45F, poured clear orange-amber with a creamy head of moderate size and retention. A good bit of lacing is left on the glass. Contract brewed by Thomas Creek in SC,

S: Smells rather like a lager with more malt and light Belgian yeast.

Tastes more like a Belgian amber than it smells. Also tastes a bit like a nut brown ale. The Belgian yeast is subtly evident.

M - Light body; medium carbonation.

O: decent but uninteresting amber. With the "Monk ..." name and the fine label, I was hoping for a little bit more Belgian style in this beer, but it did become more appealing and nuanced with addtional tasting. .

Half finger off white head with decent lacing and little retention on a clear amber body. Aroma is simple with caramel and toasted malts with hint of citrus hops. Flavor is very sweet with candy sugar and caramel on a toasted malt base. Oily, medium body and moderate carbonation. This one is too sweet for me. It's also very simple. Drinkable yes but wouldn't go for another.
